I sure hope Republicans don't resort to sleazy tactics to win, like Cochran did. Each state is a different situation. Mississippi is solidly a red state. Cochran should win against whomever the Democratic opponent happens to be.

Yes, but his strategy of emphasizing the benefits and dollars (read: pork) he brings to his state was a good counter argument against the Tea Party's argument of slashing spending, especially in an open primary state with crossover voting allowed. [Disclaimer: I believe we need to slash spending.]

Consider how Ron Paulites defend his record bringing of federal dollars into his district while at the same time screaming for spending cuts. What goes around, comes around, I guess.

No. The guy lied and misrepresented a lot of folks. I think a lot of them will just sit this one out.

The Ron Paul thing has been addressed too numerous times to touch it. He was the most fiscally conservative member of congress for his entire tenure.

They have become the masters, the kinds of sleazy tactics. But then again, it is politics.

Cut everyone's benefits but mine and the people in my district.

If McDowel's challenge is successful, my guess would be it is because many of the Democrats who voted did so after voting in the Democratic primary earlier in the month. Yesterday's outcome was not an endorsement of Cochran, it was an organized effort to make it easier for the Democrat to win.

Crossing party lines in the primary is exactly the tactic Rush Limbaugh was pushing for Republicans to do in the 2008 Presidential Election Primaries.

The comparison fails, because Rush didn't lie to anyone.
