    Ecclesiastes (TNIV)
2:14 "The wise have eyes in their heads"
7:11 "Those who see the sun"
7:27 "“Adding one thing to another to discover the scheme of things
10:4 "calmness can lay great offenses to rest"
12:11 "The words of the wise are like goads"

There are others that are almost word for word like the ESV, but I don't think they're that terrible in terms of structure.

Remind me, do you prefer the NLTse to the TNIV, or does it depend on the pericope? If you're like me, I'm so translation-schitzophrenic it's not even funny :tongue3:

Again, ESV comes out on the bottom, in my opinion.

I actually enjoy the NLT quite a bit.

Good job. I would like to see renderings like these retired from the new NIV.

I prefer the TNIV --all things considered. However, there are many occasions in which the NLTse has superior and more precise wording than does the TNIV. But TNIV is more middle-of-the-road in translation philosophy. It captures the best of both worlds generally.

I love the NLT for the epistles. I am not crazy about the gospels, but for old testament reading and the reading of Paul's letters it is great.

My wife has used the NLT for some years now. At first I was somewhat resistant to it, but now it is one of my favorite translations.

I don't have an ESV, but I have used it on E-sword. It's not my favorite, but it's alright.
