I just cannot get past the magnitude of his sin . . . yes, I am a sinner.

But, this kind of sin. What ever happened to some sins just being totally off limits for believers? Have we gotten so lazy in our holiness that anything goes?

What happened to the days when writing a hot check to buy milk for the kids was the most sin we (pastoral leaders) would commit? What happened to the days when the most hideous sin a pastor might be caught in was lingering too long at the magazine rack at the 7-11.

KHOW radio is interviewing the accuser again, and they are playing his answering maching tapes of "Art" then recordings of Pastor Ted. These are very damning evidence.

Listen live to The Peter Boyles Show on KHOW at http://www.khow.com/pages/listen-index.html

Ya' know, when we are praying that the sin is a lesser sin . . . it is SCARY!

But, I do pray that he just bought drugs from this creep.

Lesser sin . . . God we NEEEEEED REVIVAL!

They are talking about that on KHOW, but polygraphs are not "Lie Detectors". If you heard the answering machine tapes, it sure sounds like Haggard.

That said, the prostitute, Mike Jones, is a scumbag sleazeball. But then, if accusations are true, so is Ted Haggard. They both need to reexamine their lives.

    I totally agree.
I wonder what was on the polygraph test.. Jones said he was tired when he took it, and wants to take it again.

And it does not tell us what he lied about.

From the comments made so far by the church, I am afraid that the best we can pray for is that he bought drugs . . .

This is a bad week for His Kingdom.

I pray that He will use this to turn us (leaders) around and away from our sin.

God we do need Your revival.

They will probably show up on KHOW's podcast page eventually.

Also, listen again in the days to come. Peter Boyles is a bulldog. He is still all over the Ramseys all these years after Jon Benets death. During the time of that incident, he was all over it for months, day in, day out.

I just heard them a few minutes ago on his broadcast...
It does sound like the same voice...
But then again, my cousin and I play tricks on my mom all the time because she can't tell our voices apart...

And that's my MOM!!! sometimes I feel sooooo loved!

Are there really greater and lesser sins? How is thievery a lesser sin? I would've thought, had I not just read your post, that breaking one of the Ten Commandments would qualify as a "greater" sin, if such a thing exists.

All sin breaks the relationship we have with God. But, certain sins show a total lack of regard for Who and What God is. If you steal a nickle from the penny bowl at the 7-11 as you pay gas, that is of a different magnitude from stealing from the offering plate.

What is Holy to God needs to remain Holy to God.

As a 'man of God', can I see me stealing from God before I would steal from you? Yes, I know that it is the 'same sin' in your eyes. But, as a man that has consecrated my life to God, there are certain sins that I cannot imagine doing.

And that is where I see magnitude.

Still being single, could a woman that I was dating 'seduce' me - that is unlikely, but it is not out of the realm of 'my concern'. But, could I see myself being solicited by a prostitute and my failing? No. And definitely not what this 'pastor' was doing - no matter what he was doing.

So, yes, I believe that there are 'degrees' to sin. The degrees have an impact upon other people, ourselves, our relationship with a Holy God, and they have an impact on the Church and the purity of the Church.

There is a good reason they are non-admissible as evidence in a trial (but not in an investigation).

It's hard to prove you did not do something. Absence of evidence in a case like this that spans a lot of time coupled with the lack of credibility of the accuser would be the only way out. Tape machine recordings may or may not be matched to a voice, I would guess, depending on whether or not the machine distorted the voice.

Of course, Haggard's own admissions don't help.

    ==There are "greater" sins.

"Jesus answered, You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delievered Me to you has the greater sin" -Jn 19:11

    Also see Matthew 12:30-31, Hebrews 6:4-6, 10:26-31.

While all sin leads to death (Rom 6:23) some sins are worse than others in that they result in stronger condemnation.

==You hit the nail on the head. I think that in Christianity, in general, we have lowered our standards. Anyone who claims to be a Christian is accepted as such even if their lifestyle says otherwise. This is very, very sad.

==It brings to mind what Paul said in Romans 2.

Check out that whole chapter and notice what he says in verse 24...

"For the Name of God is blasphemed among the gentiles because of you"

Because of who? Those who preach one thing and do another (Rom 2:1-5, 21-23).

Great post . . . That is a scary thing . . . When God and His admonition are ignored, His people get hurt.

So, sins that tempt you are "less" than those that don't? How convenient.

How is homosexuality a greater sin than theivery or blasphemy?

Which would hurt you more, your husband having an affair or this pastor that had an affair?

So, sins that have an affect upon your life and well being are greater than those that do not.

Tho't so. What was that phrase? How convenient.

    Daisy,
