Check any of my posts on my views of Carter visiting the memorial.

    Pardon my ignorance - I don't have a clue what Arafat's 72 is.

"Love your enemies. Do good to those that hate you and despitefully use you. Return good for evil."

These are words of Jesus. Do you see him spitting on anyone's grave? Besides if you were seen spitting on his grave we could all give you credit for igniting the next round of violence over there.

Even if he didn't die of AIDs, he was still an evil terrorist. Would those of you who defend him do the same if Carter visited the grave of Pol Pot?

Oh, I think that Carter is likely to do anything.

There might have been behind the scenes pressure on Carter. Notice that he had a Republican with him. That is where I think that cause of death plays a role. I think that there is a coverup and Carter had to participate in it for various reasons, the chief of which is that the Arabs have the oil and our freedom of action with them is limited by that fact. Remember also that Europe will rally to Arafat's cause until the end of time. Europe's last name is appeasement. One wonders how long the British will let Blair stay in the war?

 I guess we will leave it @ that.....

I distinctly remember a similar outcry when another President laid a wreath at Bitburg.

I predict Tony's career will be over the day after the next national election in Great Britain.

What surprises me is that Arafat's sexual reputation in christian circles actually is improving somewhat of late. I've heard gossip that he was a pedophile for years.

Carter has played a significant role in brokering peace. This visit was an attempt to help restart the Mideast peace process especially with the election of a moderate successor to Arafat. The man won the Nobel Peace Prize and has been building housing for poor people. He's a good Christian man not one who uses his religion for political gain.

Which peace did he broker in the Middle East? Do we really want that kind of peace ... where suicide bombers attack people without cause and without warning?

Nobody's perfect. We're all sinners. Who are we, to criticize?

Keep in mind, Carter is still the only American president to actually get a lasting peace treaty in the Middle East.

Lasting peace treaty?? Is that what you call what has been going on for the past twenty years? Please save us from those kind of lasting peace treaties ...

Actually, Galation is referring to the treaty between Israel and Egypt, which has stood firm since its inception, depite the situation in the Middle East.

And don't forget that little "threat" from Israel to Egypt about the Aswan dam (as mentioned on the other thread), the old Damoclese sword trick. [IMG] Weapons are still being smuggled into the Gaza Strip from Egypt, though, for Palestinian terrorism. I would hardly really call that a peace. :(

If, before the Camp David talks, anyone said that Egypt and Israel would remain at peace for over 20 years, he would have been considered crazy.

It wasn't just Carter, of course. Begin and Sadat took a tremendous risk in making peace. But the world owes all three of them our admiration and gratitude.

Without Egypt, there is no hope of defeating Israel militarily.

Peace between Israel and Egypt. BTW, what PEACE has Bush brokered. The only thing he knows how to do is start wars.
