How about a specific example of this behavior. Your judgments may be erroneous.

I agree. I cannot imagine a church member seeing my wife walking in the rain and just driving on by.

I guess if a person is really concerned about appearances, just put her in the trunk, or in my case I could put her in the bed of my truck and throw a tarp over her.

It is simply a matter of men with big heads. Women should be submissive as unto the Lord. Women have NO directive to be subserviant to men if they are not leading their family in the biblical way.

Well, you asked. So here's my take. You won't like it.

This happens to you a lot? Do most of the women in your church have the same complaint about men? If what you're describing happens a lot—and I'd say it does since you're blaming the culture in the region—then it's more likely you're the one sportin' a 'tude and people are just reacting to it.

abcgrad94 what you are explaining sounds cultural for that area. I grew up in the north and I am old enough to remember when women wore dress' instead of slacks and if they did not they would get the cold shoulder and considered less then a lady. Also I can remember times if someone came to visit, the women, wife and daughters, would leave the room where the men were. Women just did not sit and talk with the men or even stay in the same room. So perhaps you are experiencing this type of culture.
I would suggest this. Ask some of the other ladies about this and see if this is the case. Now my next suggestion is going to really make some angry, but that is life. If this is a cultural thing then you need to go along and take your place in that culture if you are going to fellowship with them and pray for the Lord to change them. By the way. This does not sound like the men not being gentlemen. If this is cultural then this is the men seeing you as not being a lady based on their beliefs. I am not saying it is good or bad. It is simply cultural in my opinion based on what you have described.
