Minnesota is a battleground state in the US House elections. There are also a robust contests at the state level for governor and attorney general. The TV and radio ads are relentless. The Democrats strategy is to paint any Republican as a Trump supporter (yeah, like that won't backfire. Idiots.)

Keith Ellison, er, "extreme" Keith Ellison, former US Congressman and now the #2 person at the Democratic National Committee is running for MN Attorney General. Take a look at this ad:

I've only seen it a couple of times. The US congressional races are getting all the attention. There was a cartoon ad with Erik Paulsen-R paddling a canoe in synch with Donald Trump. Both cartoon figures had pasted on photos of their faces. It's kind of a clever ad, meant to show that Paulsen is in tune with Trump (and should therefore be voted against) but I couldn't find it online anywhere. That one is on A LOT.

Well, I just tried a search and I couldn't find it, either, the spoof on:

Is this your district? It's only D+1, but Hillary won it by about a ten point margin. This is one of the ones that have a good chance of flipping and Trump is especially unpopular there but wish I could see a more recent poll:

KSTP/SurveyUSA: Phillips Leads Paulsen in Tight Race

Now the other guy, Dean Philips, is accusing of ignoring some sexual harassment claim in one this country's dirtiest campaign races this year:

‘No Involvement’: Attorney Behind Harassment Case Defends Phillips

looks weak, unsubstantiated to me, but Sharia Keith is another matter. I think he'll lose (narrowly) and Dean will win (narrowly), numbers are too low too late for the incumbents. But you live there, so....?

    It is my district.

I just can't see Democrat Phillips beating Republican Paulsen. Paulsen has crushed all Democrats the last four or five elections. Before Paulsen there was Republican Jim Ramstad who had even larger victory margins. This district has been reliably Republican for at least 40 years.

However, the Democrats are pouring money into this race and if the Republicans abandon Paulsen and shift resources elsewhere, who knows?

I can't find the spoof ad against Paulsen on YouTube, but I got a couple of screen grabs of it with my phone tonight. This particular commercial runs all the time. The PAC behind this commercial is attempting to capitalize on the district's dislike of Trump, trying to tie Paulsen to Trump. Of course Paulsen tries to portray himself as being somewhat independent of Trump in the ad you posted.

BTW, the Paulsen Bigfoot commercial that Phillips is running is very clever, very good. Paulsen has this bad rap for not holding town hall meetings, even cancelling one in 2016 (and on a fairly flimsy excuse.) Opponent Dean Phillips has pounced on that and has been running this ad A LOT, implying that Paulsen is in hiding from constituents. Take a look...

LOL, shave fifteen or so seconds off of the Big Foot ad and that'd make it one of the best ads of the years - cute but not cutesy, twist, retro car, Big Pharma references, and more, all without being nasty or vicious.

The rowing ad, and its spoof are okay, but like you say, Paulsen was there long before Trump came onto the political scene. Really need to see new polling and updates:

Name Party Receipts* Disbursements** Cash on hand Date
    Dean Phillips Democratic Party $2,478,334 $1,641,963 $836,371 As of July 25, 2018
    Erik Paulsen Republican Party $3,852,306 $1,526,591 $2,692,684 As of July 25, 2018

that was like a billion political years ago.
