Family wants Tawana Brawley case reopened

    Maybe it's just another urban legend thing--but I thought that Tawana herself had eventually made a public statement saying that she had LIED about the whole incident, and that's why the folks that sued her were able to win their judgments against her and her "reps"?? I'm thinking that there was some mention of the fact that she was so young, and had been caught up in a bunch of stuff by Sharpton and crew and it just got out of hand.

    And if she's now changed her name and moved on with her life, it's interesting that it's her MOM doing the demanding to reopen and NOT Tawana. Sounds like once again Tawana is being used by the folks around her. If it WAS true--then certainly she deserves justice; but perhaps it would be harder on her now to exact that justice. And, obviously, if it was NOT true, then her mom is expoiting her in a most despicable way. :tear:

    That was my understanding also.

    I agree.

    I was really surprised by this story. I really did not pay very close attention when this incident first occurred, some years ago, but since she was successfully sued in civil court then, it does raise questions as to who is best served by this re-opening.
