The parents of small children decide to fast.

Should their small children be included in this fast?

    Thoughts, comments?

What would be the purpose of the small children fasting?

If you're talking food, nope. Young children need the proper food and nutrition to grow. I see nothing wrong with fasting from favorite tv programs or sports or something like that. Personally, I think it might be dangerous to deprive a child of food, though. And as Sue asked, why would a child need to fast? Shouldn't that be a personal decision, not one mandated by the parents?

If it's only for a day, I don't see any problem with it.

I imposed a fast on my oldest when she refused to eat her dinner about 10 years ago. We put her uneaten dinner in the refridgerator, and we served her that plate every meal time until she decided she was hungry enough to eat it. Not so finicky ever after.

I think if the children understand the concept its a wonderful idea. Seeking the Lord as a family would be a beautiful event.

While I have never done that with my girls, I think it is an interesting idea. I would think it would need to be only a day and you would need to really spend some quality time helping the children understand why you were doing it.
