I sympathize with the Father here. I think he is exercising " do onto others". He is giving his daughter a taste of what she gave her son to teach her a lesson. He left the door open to her when she learns this lesson. I can't see fault in him.

Political correctness is winning the day within several persons theology within this thread. God's truth is cast aside for political correctness and emotionalism.

    What a shame.

Exactly. She might not even have disowned him. She may have just set down ground rules that were ignored, and so she made him move out. Possibly even he chose to leave and go stay with grandpa, because he knew he wouldn't have to obey mom's rules. Maybe he got tired of hearing mom pray out loud over him, weeping for him.

Maybe she grabbed a shotgun and threatened him. Point is, we don't know.

I don't even think you can read between the lines and establish that either of them are Christians. When it comes to homosexuality, atheists , agnostics and some of everybody has called it an abomination.

Perhaps there is a lack of love shown by the father and the daughter.

But in reality, does the church treat the homosexual any differently?

I think TND is saying we don't know the spiritual situation of any of the three so we can't rightly expect them to behave in a Christian manner without one or more professing to be a Christian.

I sure can see fault in him. I know it looks like he's trying to present himself as one who will love his grandson regardless. But he's not expressing the same thing about his daughter. That's crazy.

In that regard I can see why some think they both have cloddish parenting reactions.

I've never understood the disowning because you're gay approach. It just Biblically makes no sense.

To love Christ and to love others as we love Christ. That has not been displayed.

well, then, you know what ?
if one's unhappy with his church, he should leave it instead of wanting it to go his way.
there are other churches one can join who might think his way.
in the same manner, if one feels that in a discussion board he is the only one who displays the love of Christ and all others don't, then there are other discussion boards available as well.
that was said with due respects.

this discussion is deteriorating into a "I'm more Christian than you are" sort of drift, and I guess partly it's because I failed to clarify my initial question.
    my bad.
when I said, "what say ye", I should have added, "would you do the same thing"?
instead it became an examination of and a condemnation or justification of either the daughter, the father, or the son.
    not the right direction.
would any of you do the same thing ?
I wouldn't, as I've stated in my post.

Again there is not enough info to make a comparison between what they did and what I would do.

If one is unhappy with his church, one stays until GOD says it's time to go. And who said anything about a church?

    .

Who in this thread is talking about a church and things going his way?

What does this have to do with the thread?

Too funny. You try to present a "gotcha" moment by talking about something no one else is talking about and then try to fakely soften the blow with an" with all due respect"? Stop. Seriously. Stop.

    Don't see it.

Nope. As a Christian, I'd correct them, but continue to love them. Disowning a family member is just crazy to me.

Most seemed to say they didn't have enough info.

    IF a christian though....

We are to keep loving and accepting our children until death do us part, but NOT condone their sinful behaviours/practices, but still to love them unconditionally, just as God thru/in christ love and forgave sinners such as us!

Of course would. In fact, He does. Which lends further evidence to the doubt these three create as to their obedience to Christ.
