Lots of wonderful WORDS out there, written by a wide assortment of lyracists.

WHO is your favorite - based on either whole folio of work or a single great song?

Looking for hymn writers, not modern P&W CCM types. Published in our hymnals.

    I'll start:

I enjoy Philip P. Bliss rousing style from the 1870's.

For the largest quantity of songs I like by a single author, without question - Isaac Watts.

    It's got to be
    Amazing Grace by Wm. Walker

    And my personal favorite is:
There's a God Somewhere by Thomas A. Dorsey

Dr. Bob, great choice there with P.P. Bliss [IMG] He is definitely in my top 10.

rlvaughn, an even better choice with Isaac Watts [IMG] Isaac is in my top 2 ;)

I think my favourite depends on the day, either Isaac Watts or Charles Wesley. Both gentlemen incredible writers. Never equalled, and based on a lot of current efforts, they never will be.

General William Booth founder of the Salvation Army wrote the great anthem hymn "O Boundless Salvation". That is an amazingly powerfull hymn for me every time I hear it.

Having a tough time choosing between Watts and Wesley. I also really like some of Stuart Townend's work.

I Know how you feel Joshua, I'm starting to think maybe I should have said Watts. As Pete said earlier I think I change my mind depending on what day it is.

I read recently that Wesley penned an average of 10 lines per day for 50 years, it would be difficult to vote against him I think.

Also Joshua, you mentioned Stuart Townsend and I love 'How Deep the Fathers Love' but thats the only one I've heard, is there a site where I can read more of his lyrics, and could you tell me if he is still writing?

    Hey, Aaron. [IMG]

Have to agree with Watts being another favorite. Depends on what mood I'm in as to who is my favorite of the day.
