My favorite hymn is "There Is A Fountian" and my favorite southern gospel song is "The Highway To Heaven Still Goes By The Cross" by the Rochesters. Has anyone here ever heard them sing? They were at my church just this Tuesday, and I just love hearing em!!

What a Friend We Have in Jesus

"What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in Prayer!
O What peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Written by Joseph M. Scriven 1855. He was born in Dublin Ireland and a graduate of Trinity college, Dublin. He emigrated to Canada at age 25 and was a member of the Plymouth brethren. Tradgedy struck his life when his fiancee drowned the night before their wedding. During his life he sacrificed much for those less fortunate. The words of this hymn were penned to his mother in Dublin who was very ill. Ironically, in 1857 he went to be with his Lord by accidental drowning in Port Hope Ontario.

We sang this hymn at our church service a few weeks ago with a upbeat tune. These words are so amazing that they lift our hearts with thanksgiving to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as he watches over the flock for which he bled.

    Praise his precious name
    Robert

Of all, I like "Because He Lives" the most.

just look how encouraging it is:

"Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know, He holds the future
And life is worth the living just becuase He lives"

    AKI,
I have to agree with you on that one. I can't believe I forgot that one. That song has helped me so many times face difficulties. And I embrace the words...." He holds the future. And life is worth the living just because HE lives." Thanks for reminding me! ;)

    God bless,

Hi; Favorite songs? Oh my! Where do I start? And can there even be a number one favorite? Naaawww!
So in not so descending order...
    My Savior's Love
    And Can It Be
    Zion's Hill
    There Is A Fountain
    Wonderful Grace Of Jesus
I Know Whom I Have Believed
    Christ The Solid Rock
    Victory In Jesus
    Jesus Loves Me
What A Day That Will Be...(should be about 3 more verses, IMHO)
    Sweet Hour Of Prayer
    Count Your Blessings
There are so many! I could never list all the songs I love. I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene! Someday beyond the reach of mortal ken, someday God only knows just where and when, the wheels of mortal life shall all stand still and I shall go to dwell on Zion's Hill!
And by the way, before Calvary I was Arminian, but after I was there, I became Calvinist! LOL Only joking ya' know. [IMG]
One more verse and I'll close this.
There's a peace in my heart that the world never gave
A peace it cannot take away
Tho' the trials of life may surround like a cloud
I've a peace that has come there to stay!
    Constantly abiding, Jesus is mine!
    Constantly abiding, rapture divine!
    He never leaves me lonely,
    Whispers oh so kind!
    "I will never leave thee!"
    Jesus is mine!

G'day & thanks for welcome Aaron [IMG]

Well, looking at the list again I just had to throw Messiah CD into drive and listen to Hallelujah Chorus a few times [IMG]

    Hallelu YAH
For the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
The kingdom of this world is become the kingdom of our Lord, and of his Christ.
And he shall reign for ever and ever.
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
    Hallelu YAH

Revelation 19:6, 11:15, 19:16. Now THAT is Scripture in song  [IMG]
