Ain't we all got 'em right now? Well, I want to ask my brothers and sisters for some prayer support on this.

I was laid off on New Year's Eve. Great timing, huh? Although we were told it was temporary, they have no idea exactly how "temporary" it is going to be. Unemployment is nothing compared to my regular paycheck, and my first week is/was a waiting week where the state of Tennessee doesn't pay you diddly (it's a freebie for them).

Needless to say, this is going to get ugly quick.

And now, the other half. My wife was told by her boss today that the 20th of this month, eleven days from now, will be her last day. My wife is a temp in an office (doing accounts payable, no less), and the company is cutting loose all the temp help.

So... not only are we losing my paycheck, but hers as well.

We are currently making payments on two, yes, two houses. We bought our current one before everything fell apart, but cannot sell the other one. So that's two house payments, two monthly insurances, two sets of taxes that are due, etc, etc.

Lots of places have been laying off around here, just like everywhere else. The labor market is overflowing right now. While I finished up my Associates in IT this past June, there's no jobs available for me to use it. I'm not picky, and will do whatever, but there's next to nothing there. My wife has a better shot than me due to her office experience and skills.

Anyway, we are swiftly moving between a rock and a hard place. I know God will provide for us, one way or another, even though the process is probably not going to be a pleasant one. All I ask is that you remember us in your prayers... not that you ask anything for us, really, but that you just lift us up to God and ask Him to get the glory and lead us in the way we should go.

Thank you all for your prayers, as I know you will pray... otherwise I would not have posted this.

I know how you feel Brother. My Wife had back surgery 1 month ago and had to stay home. Her sick time ended and this weeks pay check was half her norm amt. I also am layed up. I hurt my knee at work a month ago and I probably won't be back to work until the end od March God willing. Surgery on my knee is a must. Workmans comp is just like unemployment except that mine is not taxed. We are already 1 month behind in our morgage. I know how you feel. I will pray for you and your Wife, God will Bless the both of you. It will be in his timing, that's what is so hard for us sinners to understand. Keep the faith.:godisgood:

I feel your pain. I'm currently unemployed (although my salary has been replaced by a business deal), and my wife just returned to work in November after missing a year of work (she was laid off at 34 weeks pregnant, and my position was eliminated while on work related job restrictions, which is now in a lawsuit). To top this off, my business is now close to 300k in debt. Like you we are trusting in God!

I have you both lifted in prayer also and hope this time of uncertainty is short.

Your situation is one that has become so common in America its not even funny. Several of my closest friends along with members of the Church are in this situation. When I suggested a while back that not all people having trouble paying their mortgage/bills was a result of sub-prime loans to dead beats I was strongly opposed for my insinuation.

Another half million people joined you and trotter this month in a boat called struggle and was told to grab a oar and let society blame this economic and mortgage crises on you. I want you to know I know you are not the cause of this crises, you are a casualty and we are here for you.

I don't know what relief our new president will bring but I hope it is sufficient to help carry your load. I don't know what work you do but with the promise of committing all medical records to electronic media will certainly bring IT jobs and I pray Trotter will be one who benefits.

I really have you both lifted before the throne of God... :praying:

    Somewhat related here...

(flash of obvious, so forgive me)...we post & interact (that's nice for argue :D) on here, and it's easy for me to forget that we got folks on here dealing with real and immense personal crises, like the loss of a job and its financial strain.

I say this to encourage you two (trotter & H427). Despite all this, you show grace in your posts, even through the challenges you face. Well done.

it also reminds me to show grace, as I never know what other things are going on with a person outside the BB.

[/flash of obvious]...remember, I'm slow. It takes me a while to get stuff you guys already know. :D
