Where's the sign that says "First Baptist Church"?

It was a Baptist church, wasn't it?

Ah, but since it was on the Jordanian/Syrian border, it was obviously not a Southern Baptist Church...

You guys need to re-read that article. It was dated around dating from 33 AD to 70 AD, and we know that this was the time of the reformation according to Hebrews 9:10...so it was obviously a Reformed Baptist Church.

Well, there's plenty of controversy 2000 years later--it must have been IFB. :D

Wait! I thought John the Baptist was the first Baptist! He'd been dead 4-5 years by this time -- how COULD this be the "first" Baptist Church?!?

    I'm skeptical....

Incidentally, I've received late word that those other signs were actually nailed over the original sign in stone, which, although nearly destroyed by the late-comers, still was partially readable:

    G nera aptist urch
    Fre W l F e Gr c e Salv n

Amazing what modern Archeology discovers these days....
