Singleman, pseudo-archaeology is also known by the label "fringe archaeology." It is the study of archeaology gone ary. The most commonly known examples are the idea of Atlantis as a real place, and idea that aliens from outerspace influenced human cultures in antiquity.

There was an interesting flourishing of fringe archeaology in the United States in the previous century, you might say it's the "golden age" of fringe archaeology. Most of the theories at that time centered around what are called the mound builder cultures in the eastern U.S., and in particular, whether those cultures imply pre-Columbian contact.

    I love it all!

Now, if you were to ask which I love best, History or Bible Prophecy, it would be hard to pick. [IMG]

Some day, I wanna see the video of the History of the World from the beginning (how it really happened). Plus all the behind-the-scenes work going on by angels, too. That should keep me occupied for a spell. LOL! [IMG] [IMG]

    Ah...history, my first love.

    Interests? American history, especially
Civil War and World War 2.

    American military history.

    American Colonial and Revolutionary
    War history.

    Church History

Biographies of people in the above areas
    of interest.

I've loved history since the 4th grade.

If I were not a pastor I'd be a history
    teacher. I love it so.

I was a pastor, I am a history teacher--teens are much easier to deal with than deacons.

Long time lurker and rartely post, but I can't resist. I loved history in high school.

1)Ancient Egypt. Even learned Middle Egyptian in university (I can translate, but *reeelly reeelly* slowly and painfully and only armed with three books: my grammar, my dictionary, and my sign list! [IMG] )(And only Middle Egyptian heiroglyphs--not Old or New Kingdom, hieratic or demotic)

2)the history of ordinary things: diet, cooking and recipes, housekeeping, clothes, hygiene--i.e. what was it like to be just an ordinary person in past times?

3)health and medicine, including paleopathology (the study of disease and trauma patterns in past populations). Did a bit of that in school.

I can't say I prefer any particular era, although I tend towards the more ancient times rather than modern. It just depends.

My main interest in history is genealogy. Not just the names and dates, but in finding out how my ancestors fit into the whole scheme of history.

On a more general note, I'm very interested in American history back to Jamestown settlement, and in Mideval European history.
