Cal said the network wanted to move in a different direction. His was the only show on the weekend worth watching. I am fairly disappointed at this news.

Did he dislike the Saudis because they have
a stake in Murdoch and help him out in preventing
a takeover. It could also be the Chinese they
have influence as well on Murdoch.

    Succor</a>

I like that Fox hired Gretchen Carlson she is an
    improvement.

    Bill Heimer

I dunno Joe it could be a money issue with paying
big bucks to Carlson and Heimer.

Cal was never mean spirited and was pragmatic at
times so I hope he gets on with someone else.

He will still be on the round table on one of the other weekend shows which I like ok. I don't think it had anything to do with the Saudis though.

Don't know where Grtechen Carlson came from. Bill whatever? came from CNN. As far as I am concerned Fox started down hill when they hired Geraldi and replaced Tony Snow with Chris Wallace.

I have noticed some former Fox people showing up on other networks, Heather Nauer? on ABC and the blonde who had the Big Story on the weekend on MSNBC. Also haven't seen the woman who started Daytime on that show for awhile. I am bad on names at times but I thought she was good, she always had some positive news from the military in Iraq.

I was wondering what happened to Linda Vester myself. She is the one with the 1pm show. It still says her name for the program on my tv guide. Maybe she had a baby or something.

Linda Vester did have a baby and will be off for a year. I was surprised they kept her name on the program.

I thought Tony Snow cut back on his hours because of his cancer . . .?????

I don't think so. He went to Fox talk radio before he had his cancer I believe. Perhaps they did not like his semi devotional at the end of each Sunday show. I don't know about Chris wallace's politics but I know too much about his fathers.

I remember Linda's name now. Thanks. I may forget it the next time around.

Rita Cosby (blonde) from Fox News is over at MSNBC. I always liked her. And I like Joe Scarborough, ex-Congressman from Florida, over at MSNBC. Tucker Carlson (from CNN) is over there at MSNBC. Looks like MSNBC is trying to draw some conservatives away from FNC.

What about Geraldo Rivera? Do you think some of Katrina coverage was over the top?

Sorry to see Cal go. I'm sure it was ratings.

I assume he'll still be on NewsWatch. That's the best show FOX has.

Geraldo is ALWAYS over the top. Fox would do much better keeping Cal and dumping Geraldo IMHO.

I liked Rita Cosby, couldn't remember her name even though I believe she is a graduate of USC. Scarborough is good, served 3 terms in the House, would like to see him run against Nelson for the Senate. He is not afraid to mention his faith either. Don't care much for Carlson.

Sorry group, but i have to differ. I will take Geraldo over any of those paper pushing stuffed shirts on FOX with the exception of Brit Hume and most recently Shepard Smith who I believe just earned his stripes in LA. When Rivera was doing the interview with the National Guard General and a Master Sargent from the 82nd Airborne who was with him in Afganistan jumped in and gave him a bear hug that told me one thing. This guy has BTDT. Been there and done that. I see no other reporter getting that much respect from the troops with the possible exception of Ollie North.
As for Cal Thomas, they didnt want him to succede. They had him in a dead time slot and not many national columnists seem to make it on national televised news programs.

The idea that Fox didn't want a show to be successful is silly, that is all they are interested in. The show was worse then watching paint dry. Oprea singers, obscure journalists, and washed up television actors, no wander they are canceling it!

I agree that they didn't try to sabotage his show with the timeslot. I disagree that his show was dry...it was one of my favorite shows on the network.

I thought it was B.O.R.I.N.G lately. Last night some lady was screaming (some call it singing).
