Your PASTOR has standards. Fine. That is called "personal separation" and he should live in accordance

What standards does the CHURCH have? Would they be the same? If so, then it is a decision of the body and each member adapts to it (or leaves the body).

When someone FORCES me to adopt THEIR standards, that is legalism. I've seen pastors "lead" their church is such a way. "MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY" and that is arrogant and dictatorial, not "servant leadership".

Then I am okay with your statement. In fact, we are in agreement.

My problem (or issue) is when someone takes a principle in the Bible and then takes it a step further to identify something as a sin. That, by definition, is legalism. There is a HUGE difference in taking a conservative approach to a particular Biblical Passage, and taking a particular Passage and bending it to support a particular belief.

Then that is GREAT! Glad your church and pastor are on the same page. STANDARDS established by the body and agreed to certainly DON'T have to be "legalistic".

Could pray that EVERYONE feels that same way about THEIR church. [IMG]

Will a pastor forbid his wife wearing pant? If so, she wears dress all the time, however during the worst winter -- under 0 temperature, she will stand outside for church activities for few hours. How does she feel by wearing dress and dress shoes -- NO pant -- too cold? Is a pastor wiser?

Why does everyone assume that wearing pants is somehow inherntly warmer than wearing a dress? Women that wear dresses and skirts all the time know the type of clothes to wear in the winter to stay warm. Between longer heavier skirts, boots, long johns and whatever there are plenty of ways to stay warm in a dress. The pastor is neither wise or unwise, he is simply true to the teachings that he presents to his congregation. :D

Sorry, been away for a bit...

I have seen some of our ladies look very feminine in lady's pants. What's the problem with pants ? Jeans, no. But nice pants, made for ladies ? No problem here.

Dad, Mom, Sister, and Brother do family outings on Saturdays. This week they are going horseback riding. Are you saying that Mom and Sister shouldn't wear jeans?

Is there something wrong with jeans? Ever try to muck out a horses stall in a dress? Oh the horror! [IMG]

I think Bro. Curtis said 'feminine'.... He doesn't see jeans as feminine but he did not say women cannot wear jeans... If I understand him correctly! [IMG]

I think he meant don't wear the clothes you use to muck out the horse stall to church.
