FYI: Bibles are being distributed in Iraq

Over the past year, Campus Crusade for Christ has been actively reaching out in Iraq. Just days after the war ended, our personnel arranged for Bibles and other evangelistic literature to be printed inside Iraq—a development that would have been unthinkable under the reign of Saddam Hussein.

Since then, Arabic-speaking Christians have delivered the Bibles, Christian books, food, and children's school supplies to tens of thousands of people to help them feel Christ's compassion in a tangible way and understand his message.

The response to these efforts has been incredibly exciting. A staff member reports on how the Iraqi people are reacting: "We took one box of Bibles with one truck of food. When the people knew about the Bibles they left the queue (line) of food and crowded on the box of Bibles... we are planning next time to do it vice versa ...

"The [Iraqi] people asked us about the name of our organization to say thank you. Then we were informed that they have recruited the best artist in the city to draw a large portrait of Jesus to give to us as a sign of gratitude...

"Where ever we went they linked us with Christianity and requested Bibles..."

The Bad News:
Once the Coalition hands over control to the Governing Council in Iraq, the opportunity for giving out Bibles may be gone.

Now is the time of opportunity if you wish to help.
