White House puts UAW ahead of property rights

Last Friday, the day after Chrysler filed for bankruptcy, I drove past the company’s headquarters on Interstate 75 in Auburn Hills, Mich.

As I glanced at the pentagram logo I felt myself tearing up a little bit. Anyone who grew up in the Detroit area, as I did, can’t help but be sad to see a once great company fail.

But my sadness turned to anger later when I heard what bankruptcy lawyer Tom Lauria said on a WJR talk show that morning. “One of my clients,” Lauria told host Frank Beckmann, “was directly threatened by the White House and in essence compelled to withdraw its opposition to the deal under threat that the full force of the White House press corps would destroy its reputation if it continued to fight.”

Lauria represented one of the bondholder firms, Perella Weinberg, which initially rejected the Obama deal that would give the bondholders about 33 cents on the dollar for their secured debts while giving the United Auto Workers retirees about 50 cents on the dollar for their unsecured debts.

This of course is a violation of one of the basic principles of bankruptcy law, which is that secured creditors — those who lended money only on the contractual promise that if the debt was unpaid they’d get specific property back — get paid off in full before unsecured creditors get anything. Perella Weinberg withdrew its objection to the settlement, but other bondholders did not, which triggered the bankruptcy filing.

This is, of course, the "change" America voted for. I'll bet those autoworkers who threw their vote behind Obama regret it now, too late.

obama has demonstrated on a number of occasions that he has a Fascist mindset:

    1. His illegal firing of the GM president.
    2. His refusal to allow the banks to repay the TARP money.
    3. His slandering of some Chrysler creditors and strong arming of others.
    4. His persecution of Bush administration officials.

I wonder if, in his race to murder as many babies as possible via abortion, he will take the next Fascist step of directing abortions to certain groups to insure a pure America?????:tear:

There is hope for you yet JC. It takes a big man to admit his mistakes. I assume that is what you are doing. Surely a Christian would not knowingly vote for another HITLER!

I wonder if your imaginings have any connection at all to reality. This is just something you made up and try to tar & feather the president with it. Stick to the real world. You can find actual things to criticize without pulling them out of your hat.

One who is "seeking truth" doesn't make up lies and toss them out as fact.

Where is the lie Mag? Since when does a speculative comment become a lie? Or is it a lie because I criticized your favorite baby killer? By the way, it is against board rules to call a poster a liar. Prove it or go back under your rock.

[You won't hear from him until he either figures you have forgotten, OR, he conjures up another "witty(?)" retort!]

Anyway, no admitting that he just may be wrong occasionally; not that I've ever seen anyway!:sleeping_2:

What outrageous charge are you talking about? I made no charges. MP called me a liar, I challenged him to prove it. In my original post, I asked a hypothetical question, made no charges or accusations. Maybe you should take a refresher course in reading comprehension. Show me where I made a charge, outrageous or otherwise. If you can't, which you can't, you should withdraw your outrageous comment.
