I think we can come up with a new solution, but, if I had to, I'd choose the "failed" systems of Europe that take up less of the GDP than the ridiculously expensive "failed" system here.

And you pastor a church? With this attitude, I sure feel sorry for anyone unfortunate enough to be stuck under your domain!

Ken, the sad thing is that not all of us know that.

Employer-based insurance is a major problem. It creates a two-tier health system--a tier of group health plans that, while costly, generally are good plans, and a tier of individual health plans that, while costly, generally are sub-par (if you can get approved) and often either deny or place permanent exclusions on pre-existing conditions.

How can you get a guaranteed-issue individual policy without preexisting conditions from one of these companies? Well, you have to have 18 months of continuous coverage, plus you must exhaust all COBRA benefits. (Did I mention that you had to be on a group plan?) I don't know about most people, but COBRA is ridiculously expensive, and to force someone to keep COBRA for 18 months is unreasonable.

Another issue is adverse selection. People who need the health insurance apply for it. People who are healthy tend to opt-out. As the costs increase, the premiums increase, prompting the healthier ones to leave the system. This further strains the system and increases the costs.

And it is your opinion that because I am a Pastor I am supposed to support their illegal activity. Especially when they can just go home.

The difference is that the communist system is in itself a failure. The current system in America is struggling because of influences outside of the system. Not the system itself.

Send them home and we will not need to garnish their wages and our health care system will be that much better. Then we get control of insurance costs through making penalties for filing false claims much stiffer. People should be afraid to file false claims and they are not because they get rewarded regardless.

While deportation would be a solution, it's not realistic.

I am with you on the penalties.

Deportation has never been suggested by anyone. It has been a strawman argument for those who want to ignore the illegal activity and the strain they put on our health care and economy. Cut off the benefits, stop employers from hirng them and they will go home and we haven't spent a dime.

I agree that employers are a big part of the problem. I think we should have a two-fold strategy.

    1) Adopt strict minimum-wage laws. If you aren't paying minimum wage, you get slapped with a ridiculously high fine. Require every worker, legal or not, to receive minimum wage and for the employer to keep records of doing so.

    2) Drastically increase fines for employing illegal workers.

Here's the catch. This way, if we get a company employing illegals that gets caught, it's a double whammy. A big fine for employing the illegal immigrant comes first, plus a big fine for not paying minimum wage to said immigrant.

The communists will support universal health care, I'm sure. That doesn't make the policy communist. I'll grant you that it's socialistic, but communism is a loaded term.

It is loaded because of the stigma it carries with it. But communists are socialists. And when a known marxist like Billary pushes such a system it is communist. Everyone who supports it may not consider themsleves a communist. But then I doubt many of them know what communists stand for. They just know the stigma associated with the name. But you look through that web site and their positions get spued on this board all the time. Not just one or a few but many.

Unfortunately the government would decide what "good" insurance is.

Her plan would hurt more than help.

Hillary worked for a law firm that had communists lawyers.

This issue is contentious enough. Why the personal attack?

    Try articulating instead of attacking.
