I was just reading the paper and noticed this articlehttp://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/10173704/detail.html

He says he plans to teach at the seminary. This means he will have influence over a lot of young preachers.

By the way, this is not the full article that was in the paper but I wished it was.

And the sad state of Christianity today is that there are are churches and seminaries that would welcome him...

Lets keep preaching the word---- in season----and out of season!!! The gay preacher will be held accountable for what he preached and didn't preach and how he lived his life and who he "hung around" with

Its clearly evident that I'd rather be judged by God for the truth I preached---than to be judged by God for the truth I DIDN'T preach!!!

God help us and pity the poor fool and his little band of foolish followers!!!

"ARGH!" She says shaking her bed-hair head.

(It's early and if I'd had a full cup of coffee, I'd have much more to say.)

    This is really sad -- unbiblical -- self-fulfillment . . .

As I said before: Those in this lifestyle need what we all need-the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness, cleansing and, yes DELIVERANCE from this perversion. What is needed is a tough love, not a pat on the back and be told that what they do is okay. But, not the shock treatment-name calling such as Phelps and company dish out.
Those that are His sheep will follow Him and be led into truth. Advocates of this lifestyle are not following the Lord Jesus. The spirit of compromise with sin is not the Holy Spirit, but a seducing spirit.

If Satan transformed himself as a minister of righteous its no great thing that a queer transform himself as one also.

So right you are Brother Bob! The interesting thing would be is if he hadn't stepped down. I know the article said that many of the 500 person congregation felt that homosexuality was wrong but would the church have voted him out or let him stay? Many Christians simply will not stand up against sin.

My former church had a pastor back in the 80s who everyone loved. He wound up falling into adultery and low and behold the church vote didn't even carry to make him step down. Two thirds of the congregation preferred to keep an adulterer in the pulpit.

A sad state we are in today...

Isn't there a country song that once said, "You've got to stand for something or you will fall for anything"...or something of that sort.
Ingore and disregard truth, and you will surely be overcome by lies.

And why not see this happening, after all Satan is the father of lies and seeks only to steal, kill and destroy...and there is no better target than pew bugs who want their ears tickled.

Oh God. Hear this little prayer.

:praying: I am really saddened by the fact that preacher and gay is used to talk about a person. It breaks my heart that if in fact he is a preacher, what does he preach? God, forgive me for the way that I feel about this person, but your Word is Gospel and it frightens me to think that maybe one of my grandchildren would listen to a preacher that will him lead them in the wrong path through his actions. Maybe, Father, if you are using him, forgive me for feeling the way I feel. I pray for this person, Help him Lord, otherwise Your Will be done in his life. Demons are so real in this world and we need your help to combat them. Help us understand Lord. Cause right now I really don't understand. But again there are a lot of things I don't understand about this physical world. It is only in my spirit that I am at peace. AMEN Diana

The full article in yesterdays paper gave more of his dialogue. It never mentioned if he was married or not. Unless he was a widow, it would seem strange seeing a single pastor.

    Here is what really sticks out to me;

"Church Deacon Kevin Hagans said many in the 500-member congregation felt that homosexuality goes against Christian doctrine"

"Reynolds said his stance on gay and lesbian issues -- not his own orientation -- led him to quit. Reynolds has long been an advocate and declared the church an "open and affirming" place for gays and lesbians to worship. He said that upset a lot of members."

In this case, the members seem to support scripture more so than the preacher.

Secondly, it was not the fact that he was gay that made him decide to leave, it was his stance. How does a preacher have a stance that is not written in scripture? We are set to defend the Gospel and not rewrite or redifine the Word. I would more understand if he had a scripture that he mis-understood that made him feel his lifestyle was acceptable, but by the article it appears he simply has a stance.

He declared God's Church "open and affirming" place for this life style. That seems odd since it is not his Church, the Church belongs to God. How does he declare God's Church to be anything but what God says it is.

So, was he saved yet living in sin?
Does he keep his Pastors reward?
Does he qualify for Rev. 22:19?

By the way, I found the full article http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_5100649,00.html

I think a lot of people need to get back to defining the local church and its purpose on earth. If it is open for the unsaved, then all manner of sinners must be welcomed into the services, and this includes homosexuals.

If it is closed to the fellowship and training of disciples, the saved, then we close the doors and put notice on the door that no unsaved need apply.

We can't have it both ways.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I agree, the Church is open for sinners to come and be saved. We should not be open to sinful lifestyles but open and loving to the sinners who perform the sinful acts.

Could you see installing a bar in the Church or putting ashtrays on the backs of the pews? I know like every man who has ever preached that we are all human. We are tempted and sometimes fall. We also must accept the consequences for our fallings...

Cigarettes and alcohol are not in the same category of sin . . . Murder, Idolatry and the like are in the same category as homosexuality.

Having said that, God still forgives any sinner that has not blasphemed the Holy Spirit - and we need to forgive them.

How to disciple them? Well, I do not think that biblical discipleship would lead us to appoint professors in seminaries that were 'openly gay'. IMHO.

Ok, heat of the moment but I was painting the picture of us lowering the standards in Gods sanctuary. But you're right, just because the pastor has a wife and girl friend doesn't mean the Church accept two first ladies... Is that better?

Who said anything about not wanting them to repent, that does not mean we start ordaining them as ministers or for that matter except they cease from such action and repent we don't baptize them either.

I didn't know God had categorized sin as to severity! It's good to know I'm not as bad as some other people.
