Can there be a holy war? Does an unessary war constitute an unholy war? Mjr. general gavin Cedric of the 82nd Airborne in the second Great War instructed his troops they did not have time for POW. The implication is obvious. He is saying something to protect both the mission and his troops. Where does one draw the line? War is horrible and how does on set out parameters? We have a rule which says we are not allowed to take out Heads of state and removing Kim Jon could settle a lot of issues. There are so many issues one has to consider. The complexity of decisions leaves most of us in confusion. Mattis' is in the driver seat. We can only pray for the man.

The 82d's commander was MGEN James M. Gavin. And I would like to see where your quote comes from. Who's Gavin Cedric?

This is a serious charge to be laid against and American general. It doesn't fit John Gavin's reputation. Again where does this charge come from?

Come right out of the book Devils in Baggy Pants about the 504 Regiment. Very popular book in the 50's. The is light reading next to what happened to German prisoners of war under Eisenhower documented in a number of documentaries. This was in the days we finished wars.

We also talked it about this when I was in the 82nd in the early 60's.
