I believe the scripture is very clear even a child can see 6 days means 6 days. In my sharing the gospel I hear some comments God could have ment 1000's of years because to God 1 day is like 1000 years to Him"2 Peter 3:8". Why do some christians give in to secular reasoning instead of plain truth?

I don't know, but that verse from Peter is amazing, where did he get it from? God Himself.

How do you explain oil and coal?

I go for an old world theory I reckon. Early Genesis is very symbolic in many ways.

I take Genesis one to mean what it says, so my answer is yes. I'm for the young earth.

It is hard to take Genesis chapter 1 literally as plants were created and grew before there was light. This is impossible in nature. The important truth in Genesis is that God did it!. It really does not matter how God did it. Rather it is important that he did do it.

To try to limit God to our own understanding it to make God too small. J.B. Phillips wrote a very good book years ago entitled, "Your God Is Too Small."

I also believe in the young earth theory. I have no problem with those who go for the old earth theory. It is one of those issues like what day was Christ born. It is not an essential.

So did Jesus stay in the ground 3 days...or 3000 years? If God wrote the book of Genesis for himself to read I could buy the 1000 years is a day "gap". But God had it written for us to understand.

I believe in a literal 6 day creation. If we believe in the miracle of creation itself; Just think of that for a moment, God made everything out of nothing; that is so incredible itself, then for Christians to doubt if He did it in 6 days, WOW! That astounds me, for if He can create in the first place then He's powerful enough to do it in 6 days. Why Christians have to try and make the bible fit secular science is beyond me. Maybe some try to do this to get their friends to accept Christianity, but I feel this isn't the right approach.

But 1 day and 3 thousand years are the same to God. Is that not what Peter was trying to explain. I wonder what arguments the early church went through?

I cannot say "from scripture" exactly how old the Earth is......I don't believe millions. But I can say with conviction from scripture God made it in 6-24 hrs day.

Peter was addressing scoffers who said God hasn't done anything yet. To God time is nothing compared to man. However when God tells "US" something in scripture about days He knows what we observe......24 hrs.

Hi David, well, how do you explain the wine Jesus made at the wedding at Cana?

"best" (or any) wine takes time to produce, a vinyard must be planted, the vines cultivated, the grapes harvested, squeezed, bottled, aged and marketed. this takes from 2-6 years yet Jesus did it in a moment of time, in an instant.

It's also impossible in nature to walk on water and raise oneself from the dead...do you deny Christ did this?

If you took ADAM & EVE on the day they were created and had a scientist take a look at them would he concluded they were just 1 day old?

Since we're at it there are many questions left unanswered. How do the different races of man all come from Adam? Were there more than one "gardens" where God created other men on earth that the bible doesn't speak of in Genesis? If not, who did Cain marry in Nod? His sister? And why was he so fearful of being killed as if there were many people after him that God had to mark him for protection? I believe the story of creation was just that, a story. True, yes, but completely revealing of all that happened and all that God did? NO. Thus, the need for faith.
