The office of prophet ended when the Bible was completed. We now live in the age of grace. At the end of this age is the second comming of Christ. The end of this age is already prophesied in the Gospels and Revelation. Although some of these are yet to be fulfilled, no new prophesy is needed. So when people of the caliber of Benny Hinn tell you they are prophets it is a lie of the devil. These people are deluded and elevating themselves to deity status

MD, Now I see your problem. You asked for a gift. That is not Biblically allowed. 1 cor. 12:11 says that God gives gifts as he wills not as we ask. We take God's gifts and use them not tell him that he didn't give us a certain one. I would be careful to tell God he is wrong and ask for something you didn't get when you received the Holy Spirit. Bad scriptual interpretation can lead to bad Christian practice.

M, I think you and Dr. Bob are not agreeing on the definition of Prophecy. If you say it is new revelation from God then it has passed but if it is sharing the gospel in a special way then it may very well be in operation. M, KEEP SEEKING THE TRUTH!!!
    I'll be praying for you

B, No I didn't ask for the gift of tounges. I prayed and asked God to show me the truth about tounges or if he wanted me to have it or not. I never prayed that God would give me the gift though.

I appreciate Benny simply because one night I watched his tv ministry and saw literally thousands praying a prayer (led by benny) to accept Jesus into their lives...it was beautiful seeing that many come into the kingdom at that very moment. -dar

Benny heals people with his coat, he wips them with it like a bull fighter teases a bull. Under his leadership in a salvation prayer most if not all of those people went home and continued living their lives the same. (i.e. they were not new creations in Christ and thus not saved.) "A salvation prayer does not a Christian make, if it is not done with truth and for His sake." Hey, I made that diddy up right on the spot.

M, If you prayed for God to show you the truth about tongues and if you had the gift, you had it in your mind already that you wanted it. Thus you fulfilled your own wishes and did not pay attention to sound doctrine. Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
(sorry to use that term but I am a 15 year social worker and stuff like that just comes out sometime). You also make it sound like anyone can pray for tongues, or, I am reading you wrong on that?
