    No, this isn't a quote from the bible.

    There's got to be hundreds of variations on this quote.

    I found a couple that made me chuckle:

    "Give a man a fish and he has food for a day;
    teach him how to fish and you can get rid of him for the entire weekend.
    ​
    "Give a man fire and he's warm for a day;
    set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life."
    ​

    Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, but don’t teach him how to fish, he’s a grown man, fishing’s not that hard, feed yourself.

    I don't remember it exactly, but it went something like this: Give a man a fish...and you will make him a Democrat. Let him go out and catch his own fish.
