Global Warming: A Convenient Lie

This kid is a 19 year old political science student and you're holding him up as an expert on global warming? Next you're going to claim that you've come up with a verifiable unified field theory, something that Einstein couldn't do.

 

Global warming is like the economy.....Bill Clinton didnt do anything to make the economy better in the 90's and GWB hasnt done anything to make it worse today...it is just nature taking its course, just like global warming.

Liberals always want to take credit for the good that they had nothing to with and to place blame for the bad that was nobodies fault.

50 years from now, history will record the global warming panic as a political ploy by liberals to try to convince us that we need more legislation, and that only they can save the world.

...this is the first year in over 100 years the temperature DROPPED almost a degree. Haven't heard much from Al Gore since this information has been released.

I believe God deliberately dropped the temperature to show these global warming religioneers HE is in charge of earth...not man.

If so, I would strongly disagree. I'm not sure that global climate change is indeed caused by man, or that he can do anything to stop it, but I am open to the facts.

Many studies are now debunking the global warming theory, at least the part about it being man-made, therefore the tree-huggung liberals like Al Gore are using non-proven rumors to gain attention and start a following of gullible voters.

It has been plenty cold here this winter, a degree or two increase would not hurt us.

No, I believe the earth is relatively young and is still going through natural changes that a planet does. We do not have the power to affect the world, and besides, there is no bench mark to gauge it from. All global warming "facts" are only theories and predictions.

Your local temperature has nothing whatsoever to do with this discussion. This phenomena though, people who think their experience has something to do with Global Warming, may be the main cause of Global Warming.

I was studying the sources listed at the Opening Post (OP). There was an interesting discussion of 2080 and the British Rivera. I may just retire and sell Mediterranean veggies in south England.

This is a subject that's causing me a lot of headaches trying to sift through. I'm not a scientist, but can understand the concepts when discussed-- even the "big words". There is more than Al Gore on the one side and a 19-year old on the other. Many scientists have become famous beating the drum WITH Gore; many more can and will make a name for themselves tooting the horn contrary to Gore.

What I CAN'T do is figure out which "side" of this debate is right, which one has the biggest political agenda, which one wants to bury its head in the sand, which one wants to rally the troops, etc. Neither, both, all? Arguments on both sides are at the self-same time both valid and sensible....and yet often shrill and heated. Decibel level of argument is not indicative that you're right.

I believe its obvious that we, as Christians, should be good stewards of this world. SO, serious question: Which IS the convenient lie/inconvenient truth? When you have real "experts" on both sides-- How do we go about reasonably sifting through such conflicting information to determine HOW to care for this world entrusted to us the best way?
