'God' References Are Removed From Movie [LINK]

ATLANTA (AP) - So much for God and country, at least during some in-flight showings of the Oscar-nominated movie "The Queen."
That's because all mentions of God are bleeped out of a version of the film given to some commercial airlines.

Be sure to read "the rest of the story" at the above link.

Is using the word "God" as an expletive or for emphasis considered using His name in vain? Some people would consider that blasphemy.

The rest of the story points out it was a mistake being rectified.

Did you read the rest of the article?

    More deflection?

If not, it was a silly remark.

Don't we have bigger things to worry over than a mistake by a rookie editor?

Has anyone ever tried using TVGuardian? If you don't put it in Religious mode, TV preachers sound pretty funny with all of the "God" and "Jesus" muted and "Golly" and "Geez" coming up in the captions.

As anyone who has endured a movie on a plane can tell you, the editing is done poorly, and usually pretty strict. Possibly, someone simply had a list of offensive words to take out. Seeing as how "God" is more often used offensivly in movies, I'd be glad to have it censored...most of the time.

Yes, I read the *gasp* entire article *gasp* before commenting.

How is pointing out that using God's name in vain is considered blasphemy by many "silly"?

As MP pointed out it God wasn't just bleeped out when it was used as a profanity. God was taken out even when used in any context. Several things to point out:

    1. The airline recognies and acknowledges the mistake and has tried to rectify it.

    2. The mistake is described as being done by a rookie editor.

    3. It doesn't appear that anyone actually supports this action.

    4. This incident has had little to no real impact.

    5. There appears to be no conspiracy to remove God from airline movies.
