    Allow scripture to be the judge of the highlighted portion of your comments.
    Eph 2:8
    For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
    Eph 2:9
    Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    Eph 2:10
    For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

    What is the 'for' there for?
    It is another way of saying 'because'.
    The christian is saved unto good works, which God has ordained that we should walk in them.

    1Pe 1:13
    ΒΆ Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
    1Pe 1:14
    As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
    1Pe 1:15
    But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; (in everything you do)
    1Pe 1:16
    Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
    1Pe 1:17
    And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

    It is very clear. Both Paul and Peter tell us we ought to be holy as God is holy. Why? BECAUSE God judges us according to our work.

    Why is this so important? Peter goes on to explain why in this very same contextual passage.

    1Pe 1:18
    Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
    1Pe 1:19
    But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
    1Pe 1:20
    Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
    1Pe 1:21
    Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

    BECAUSE we have been redeemed by the precious blood of
    Christ. And BECAUSE we have been redeemed by so precious a fountain, we HAVE NO RIGHT to count it a light thing and assume God is going to give everybody a cookie at the JSOC.

    It is BECAUSE we have been redeemed by His Blood that we shall face the greater judgment.

    Heb 10:26
    For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
    Heb 10:27
    But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
    Heb 10:28
    He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
    Heb 10:29
    Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
    Heb 10:30
    For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
    Heb 10:31
    It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

    The fact that Jesus is the last sacrifice for sin there remains no other to which we could appeal.
    How much displeasuredo you think God will have towards the one who treats the Blood of Christ as if it were worthless and continues to sin, unrepentant? Notice also that the passage is talking about a SAVED individual: 'the blood of the covenat wherewith he was SANCTIFIED'.
    No lost man is sanctified, therefore these are SAVED people who face a terrible judgment from God.

    I think modern Christianity is like a ship without a rudder, tossed to and fro, by the sleight of men. they have forgotten that God is Holy, and will JUDGE HIS PEOPLE!!!

    Oh yes. Thank you RSR. By God's grace, I'll be nice.
    Sometimes my passion comes through as something less than gracious; I apologize in advance.

    Joseph;
    Where did you go? I assumed that since you had started this thread that you would want to continue discussing this subject. Was my assumption wrong or are you just very busy at the moment?
