The following are the most succinct, brief statements of God's choice of the elect from the beginning of time, chosen in grace, not by merit. All quotes from the NRSV.

"When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and praised the word of the Lord; and as many as had been destined for eternal life became believers." Act 13:48

"just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love." Eph 1:4

"The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to ascend from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the inhabitants of the earth, whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will be amazed when they see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come." Rev 17:8

"who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages began" 2Ti 1:9

"So then he has mercy on whomever he chooses, and he hardens the heart of whomever he chooses." Rom 9:18
    [Seen in explanation here:]
"including us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?" Rom 9:24
