Some folks in the politics forum have been decrying God's judgement on the USA. That got me to thinking- what are the signs of God's judgement on a nation?

Hey, I know that Cal-Armin is more exciting but... I really would like some thoughtful discourse on this subject.

Their fear of God's judgment is the appearance of impending doom in prophecy. They are right to be aware of it's coming. It's signs are all over the place. Apostasy of this country will certainly bring doom whether it's the final tribulation period or not. We are killing the most innocent. Homosexuality is rampant. True Love is a rare thing. If you don't like the way your wife cooks divorce her and get a new one. We have become wasteful and arrogant and we have learned the ways of Hate. We are all responsible because we have allowed it to happen. We have fail in our great commission. We have gone to preach the gospel and neglected our own. Many have left the faith to have their ears tickled by men speaking and boasting of great things.
How can you miss prophecy when the Bible is mostly prophecy.

I sometimes punish/judge my kids by giving them what they want!

I remember one halloween when the boys whined when I told them they could eat no more than 3 pieces of candy a day. So I said to go ahead and eat as much as they wanted, but don't complain to me.

So they gorged, got sick, puked up everything, and admitted I'd been right.

After America gorges on the bread/circuses of the new socialistic regime and throws up (if it stays alive), it might listen to the conservative voice of reason.

    Just hope I have any 401k left . . . :applause:

We can see it in the OT because God pronounced judgment and spelled it out.

As I said in another thread on the same topic, we are in a time of grace. God's judgment will come on Judgment Day. Even Jesus said to cities he condemned for disbelief that they would be judged on Judgment Day.

Perhaps it's more a matter of giving people over to their desire for evil, as in Rom. 1. That may be a form of judgment but it's not quite the same.

Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
    Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

That is the most thoughtful comment I have seen so far. I wonder how many will get the 'bread/circuses' reference- how appropriate. Thanks.

While ultimate judgement will come on that 'great and terrible day of the Lord', is it true that God also judges nations now, or not?

This is all true, yet I am perplexed by the fact that when voters in CA have a choice they vote for liberals who support gay marriage and then turn around and vote for an amendment AGAINST gay marriage. But I guess that is another thread.

There has been no anouncement that God no longer judges nations anymore. What is clear from scripture is that the current method of judgment from God is to turn the sinner over to their lusts.

One way God carries out judgment is to do nothing. That is, he simply leaves us alone, to continue on a path which leads to destruction.

We can preach about judgment on America, but unless God opens minds and hearts, brings conviction of sin, it will fall on deaf ears.

Let's pray that God will pour out his Spirit on us and give us revival. Revival is sent down, not worked up.

God is judging but his judgment is not manifesting as of yet. How would we be able to tell? It was announced clearly in the OT (often beforehand).

I agree with Rev. Mitchell - God is giving the nations over to their sinful desires and beliefs.

Didn't God do something like this when the Israelites whined for a king to rule over them. [1 Samuel 8]

He does step in and outright judges nations today; ie, Nazi Germany, Japan and Stalinist Russia. Today it will not be just one nation for the fullness of the Gentiles is near that mark. Gentiles are all nations that are not Jewish we are entering a time that is unprecedented in history, God will judge the whole world at one time. In the past it was by city or nation but as it was in Noah's time it will be world wide and quick.
