Got tired of seeing the Beatles thread in the main board window... so I thought I'd start another lyrics thread. This won't be exhaustive, since I know my tastes in Christian music aren't exhaustive. These are just good solid lyrics to good songs, in my opinion.

    All the Evidence I Need
Don Koch, Keith Dudley, and Mark Harris
Copyright (C) 1996 Dayspring Music, LLC.

Well I've seen the news and I've heard the questions,
Seems the thing to do is to keep second guessing
The One who made the earth and sky.
I guess it's okay just to wonder why...
But I know the truth, and I know I'm certain,
    It's not a mystery, It's not behind a curtain,
The veil was torn many years ago,
And the Spirit stayed just to let us know
That the answer is not in the stars way up high
But the answer is found in believing in Christ!

So I am walking by faith and not by sight
And I am trusting in invisible things,
For I have felt in my heart what I can't see with my eyes -
'Cause the proof is living inside of me
I've been set free and this is all the evidence I need.

There are pyramids in the land of Egypt,
There are those who say that they contain the secrets
To where we're from and why we're here,
But I think God's Word makes it crystal clear
That the ancient tombs in the barren desert
Do not hold the clues, they do not hold the answers,
The truth has already been revealed,
For it's moving in me and I know that it's real.
'Cause it's not in the grave for the skeptics to see,
But he lives in the hearts of the ones who believe!

'Cause I know Your love reaches out to me in my weakest of days,
For I've felt Your touch in my hearts of hearts though I've never even seen Your face.

So I am walking by faith and not by sight
And I am trusting in invisible things,
For I have felt in my heart what I can't see with my eyes -
'Cause the proof is living inside of me
I've been set free and this is all the evidence I need.

    Nice change up Joshua

Yep the Beatles thread is has long run it's course and I am ready to go beyond "Let It Be" and go to Let It Die. One of my favorite Mercy Me songs:

    "My Heart Is Spoken For"

    Take this world from me
    I don't need it anymore
    I am finally free
    My heart is spoken for

    Oh and I praise you
    Oh and I worship you...

    [CHORUS:]
    Covered by your love divine
    Child of the risen Lord
To hear you say "This one's mine"
    My heart is spoken for

    Now I have a peace
    I've never known before
    I find myself complete
    My heart is spoken for

    Oh and I praise you
    Oh and I worship you...

    [CHORUS:]
    Covered by your love divine
    Child of the risen Lord
To hear you say "This one's mine"
    My heart is spoken for

By the power of the cross
    You've taken what was lost
    And made it fully yours
    And I have been redeemed
By you that spoke to me
    Now I am spoken for

    [CHORUS:]
    Covered by your love divine
    Child of the risen Lord
To hear you say "This one's mine"
    My heart is spoken for
    [2X]

    Take this world from me
    Don't need it anymore...

You know, the one thing I like about country music, is that they are not afraid to sing decent Christian oriented music. Some are critical about the wording and pick it to death, but it is secular music, and to mention Christian principles alone is something.

    Cheers,

    Jim

PS. I was tired of the Beatles thingy before it even got started.

    Audience of One
    Michael Weaver
    2002 Word Music, LLC.

I come on my knees to lay down before You,
Bringing all that I am longing only to know You.
Seeking Your face and not only Your hand,
I find You embracing me just as I am.
And I lift these songs to You and You alone,
As I sing to You in my praises make Your home.

To my audience of One, You are Father, and You are Son!
As Your spirit flows free, let it find within me a heart that beats to praise You.
And now just to know You more has become my great reward,
To see Your kingdom come and Your will be done,
I only desire to be yours, Lord!

So what could I bring to honor Your majesty?
What song could I sing that would move the heart of royalty?
When all that I have is this life that You’ve given me,
So Lord, let me live for You, my song with humility.
And Lord, as the love song of my life is played,
I have one desire: to bring glory to Your name!

To my audience of One, You are Father, and You are Son!
As Your spirit flows free, let it find within me a heart that beats to praise You.
And now just to know You more has become my great reward,
To see Your kingdom come and Your will be done,
I only desire to be yours, Lord!

    Back to topic....

I still have to get with mate and work on my re-arrangement of this one:

Fill Thou my life, O Lord my God,
    In every part with praise,
That my whole being may proclaim
    Thy being and Thy ways.
Not for the lip of praise alone,
    Nor e’en the praising heart
I ask, but for a life made up
    Of praise in every part!

Praise in the common words I speak,
    Life’s common looks and tones,
In fellowship in hearth and board
    With my belovèd ones;
Not in the temple crowd alone
    Where holy voices chime,
But in the silent paths of earth,
    The quiet rooms of time.

    Fill every part of me with praise;
    Let all my being speak
Of Thee and of Thy love, O Lord,
Poor though I be, and weak.
So shalt Thou, Lord, from me, e’en me,
    Receive the glory due;
And so shall I begin on earth
    The song forever new.

So shall each fear, each fret, each care
    Be turned into a song,
And every winding of the way
    The echo shall prolong;
So shall no part of day or night
    From sacredness be free;
But all my life, in every step
    Be fellowship with Thee.

    In Christ Alone

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
    This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost it's grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Brought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
    Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

Blammo - I LOVE that song - how powerful and true. However, we did it this week and it was BUTCHERED!!!! There's another "In Christ Alone" song that I guess someone put the two together as a medly and so we did it that way this week and it made it horrid. Just when we got through the verse - "There in the ground, His body lay.....", we then went to a totally different melody and tempo! It completely lost it's power, IMO. :(

There are just so many songs I love. Here is one:

Before the Throne of God Above

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in Heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
    Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.

Behold Him there the risen Lamb,
    My perfect spotless righteousness,
    The great unchangeable I AM,
King of glory and of grace,
One in Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!

Those that like Townend's "In Christ Alone" should also check out "How Deep the Father's Love for Us". Phenomenal song. "Before the Throne" is another one of those new hymns I love so much.

How Deep the Father's Love for Us is great too. Which Before the Throne are you talking about - there are lots on CCLI. :D

Another I'm loving is Center written by Charlie Hall and Matt Redman:

    Chorus 1
Oh Christ be the center of our lives
Be the place we fix our eyes
Be the center of our lives

    Verse 1
And You're the center of the universe
Ev'rything was made in You Jesus
    Breath of ev'ry living thing
    Ev'ryone was made for You

    Misc 1
    (BRIDGE)
    You hold ev'rything together
    You hold ev'rything together

    Verse 2
We lift our eyes to heaven
And we wrap our lives around Your life
We lift our eyes to heaven to You (yeah)

    Misc 2
    (ENDING)
And turn your eyes upon Jesus
And look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace

    Arise and Be Comforted
    Christy and Nathan Nockels
    1996 Rocketown Music, LLC.

Arise, and be comforted for the Lord, He is good to the weary,
And even the young heart can tire and fall but He knows them all.
For the Lord, He will renew their strength, they will soar on wings as eagles.
They will run and never grow weary; they will walk and not grow faint,
For the Lord, He is good!

Lift your eyes to the heavens, for the Creator is living in you.
Come surrender as you are, and know that you’ll never stray too far,
Let His power within you heal your heart.
Lift your eyes to spacious skies, let Him chart your way of flight,
Spread your wings and fly... for the Lord, He is good!

"Before the Throne of God Above"... the one you listed.

Actually the words were written by Charitie Bancroft and century ago, but the music is new. I love that hymn!

One of my favorite artists that you've never heard of: Ross King. He's a great singer/songwriter, and a great guy to boot! This song, while not a "worship song" is a great thought about grace. www.rosskingmusic.com

    As Much For Me
    Ross King
    Copyright (C) 1999 Ross King

As much for me as for the murderers and thieves who kill and steal without remorse,
And for the ones who claim convenience and shrug and choose abortion and divorce.
As much for me as for the hypocrites who preach the word of God to fool the weak,
And for the self-proclaimed "messiahs" who mislead the lost with every word they speak.

    Forgive them, Father, for they do not know what they have done, where they deserve to go;
And me, I sit here and consider this as if the truth did not apply to me at all.

But grace is as much for me as for anyone, just look at all I've done,
I praise You for Calvary, where You took away my sin, just like every one of them,
So how can I condemn, how can I condemn when

It's as much for me as for the racist ones who justify philosophy of hate,
And for the poor, unknowing worshippers of idols that will only pass away.
As much for me as for the husbands who are violent and unfaithful to their wives,
And for the plague-infected ones who die too soon because they choose to roll the dice.

Somehow I've made myself believe that when you look down on me You see something better than You see in them.
My lust and greed and pride and selfish way of living are the hammer and the nails that took Your life.

And grace is as much for me as for anyone, just look at all I've done,
I praise You for Calvary, where You took away my sin, just like every one of them,
So how can I condemn, how can I condemn?

I'm thinking back to when He said the sinless will be the first to cast their stones,
So maybe I'll just lay these rocks of condemnation down.
The truth is that our sins are not the end of us, 'cause we've been bought and He had each of us in mind that day!

And that's why grace is not just for me, it's for everyone no matter what they've done.
I praise You for Calvary where You took my, just like every one of them,
So how could I condemn, how could I condemn?

    Captivate Us
Charlie Hall, Nathan and Christy Nockels
Copyright (C) 1992 Sweater Weather Music

Your face is beautiful and Your eyes are like the stars.
Your gentle hands have healing there inside the scars.
Your loving arms, they draw me near, and Your smile, it brings me peace.
Draw me closer, O my Lord, draw me closer, Lord, to Thee.

Captivate us, Lord Jesus, set our eyes on You.
Devastate us with Your presence falling down.
Rushing River, draw us nearer, Holy Fountain, consume us with You.
Captivate us, Lord Jesus, with You.

Your voice is powerful and Your words are radiant bright.
In Your breath and shadow I will come close and abide.
You whisper love and life divine and Your fellowship is free.
Draw us closer, O my Lord, draw us closer, Lord, to Thee.

And let everything be lost in the shadows of the light of Your face.
And let every chain be broken from me as I'm bound in Your grace:
For Your yoke is easy, Your burden is light!
You're full of wisdom, power and might, and every eye will see You.

Captivate us, Lord Jesus, set our eyes on You.
Devastate us with Your presence falling down.
Rushing River, draw us nearer, Holy Fountain, consume us with You.
Captivate us, Lord Jesus, with You.

    Could He Be the Messiah?
Deborah D. Smith and Michael W. Smith
Copyright (C) 1982 Meadowgreen Music Company

Been here for days, I'm amazed at this teacher, carpenter, preacher,
Lost in the crowd, I hear Him now, He's praying and He's saying, "God feed them all."
Five thousand men, all of His friends are worried, "find bread and hurry!"
Five loaves and fish, what can He wish, He's praying... still He's saying, "God feed them all!"

Could He be the Messiah? Miracle Man, part of the Plan?
Could He be the Messiah? Life in His hands, I understand He could be...

Meat for our needs, fully He feeds our hunger, older and younger,
Twelve baskets more, can we ignore, He shows us that He knows us, "is He the Christ?"
God in His eyes, I realize His power, need of the hour,
Jesus is His name, they say He came to feed us and to receive us, "is He the Christ?"

It is He, the Messiah! Miracle Man, part of the Plan!
It is He, the Messiah! Life in His hands, I now understand it is He!

    He Knows My Name
    Tommy Walker

I have a Maker, He formed my heart,
Before even time began, my life was in His hands.

He knows my name, He knows my every thought,
He sees each tear that falls, and hears me when I call.

    I have a Father, He calls me His own;
He'll never leave me, no matter where I go.

He knows my name, He knows my every thought,
He sees each tear that falls, and hears me when I call.

And He knows your name, He knows your every thought,
He sees each tear that falls, and He'll hear you when you call.

My favorite is an old hymn called, 'When I survery the wonderous cross."

When I survey the wonderous cross,, on which the Prince of Glory died, my richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it Lord, that I should boast, save in the death of Christ my God, all the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to his blood.

See, from his head, his hands, his feet, sorrow and love flow mingling down: Did e're such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown.

Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were a present far too small; love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.
