GRACIA BURNHAM SAYS MARTIN COULD HAVE FLED, BUT STAYED WITH HER
    (Rose Hill, Kansas-AP) -- Missionary Gracia (GRAY'-shuh)
Burnham says her husband Martin's handcuffs rusted during their
year-long captivity in the Philippine jungle, so that he could
    have escaped.
But Burnham told C-B-N's "700 Club" that he chose to remain
with her because she was too weak to flee from the Muslim rebels
    with him.
While they weren't beaten or tortured, Gracia says she and
Martin were denied physical intimacy. Once in a while, though, he
    would brush her hair.
In their last conversation together, she says he talked
about Psalm 100 and told her that even as hostages, they should
    serve the Lord with gladness.
A short while later, Philippine troops sent to rescue them
opened fire, Martin was killed and Gracia was wounded.
Her newly published memoir is titled "In the Presence of My
    Enemies."

    Wow, that's amazing!
I didn't realize she had a book out. I rarely read anything like that, but if I remember to I will certainly look for it and buy it.
I really am very interested in what she has to say about the whole situation. Just the fact that she's still sane enough to write a book amazes me. What a strong person she must be!

That book has to be amazing. I still love to read the books written by Corrie Ten Boom.

Books like this make me realize just how little I have suffered for the cause of Christ.
