Great-grandma Betty pleads innocent to resisting arrest over dead grass

OREM - Betty Perry pleaded innocent Tuesday to charges she failed to water her lawn and resisted arrest when an officer attempted to cite her.
Perry appeared in 4th District Court in Orem to enter her plea in a case prominent Los Angeles attorney Gloria Allred described as a gross injustice.
"Today, law enforcement in Orem has enshrined itself as the laughing stock of our country by prosecuting a 70-year-old great-grandmother for allegedly not watering her lawn," Allred said. "This ill-conceived action ensures Orem's law enforcement authorities first place in the [Guinness World Records] for stupidity."

Too much salt on food = arrest

Asking questions in a public format = arrest

    Having dead grass = arrest

The idiocracy we are seeing lately = priceless.

And to think there are places here in Central KY where you can now be ticketed FOR watering your lawn, during our extended drought.

Tell Great-grandma to consider moving here, where we won't prosecute you for not watering. Or move a bit further out into the desert where there is NO grass TO water.

    General Honore` had it right.

"Stuck on stupid!" is not merely just a motto, apparently. :tonofbricks:

Around here, those on public water systems can get a fine for watering the grass.

OK...so this has now been the dumbest thing I have heard all day! We weren't even able to water our lawn this summer. Our city was on a water restriction so the new seed we had just put out and the 15 pine trees we planted we have to be redone again next year. I absolutely hate walking across our yard and hearing that awful crunch!

You all need to move down here. We don't water and we've still got soggy grass.

I think Houston is something like 20 inches over our total average rainfall for the year already. We're pretty close to 70 inches for the year so far.

On top of it, that tropical system is going to move through the gulf and go right down our throat this weekend.
