Did your church sponsor an activity for halloween?

How did you use it as an outreach?

Our church has an annual Fall Festival that is touted as a Halloween/Trick or Treat alternative. We have lots of information about our church, games, prizes, drama, puppets... the whole schmeer! There'll be a Gospel presentation at the end of the night, and last year we had 4 kids and 5 adults accept the Lord. In fact, one of the guys leading the Fall Festival team this year joined our church because of the outreach event two years ago.

Our church held a "Light the Night" day/night event.

WE lit up some members yards, had a bouncing slide for the kids and handed out candy with information about Christ and our church.

Our pastor feels we should try to Light the darkness Night of the year with the message of hope and peace.

If a church has a harvest festival or celebrates in any way it has compromised. We feel bad that we are taking away a fun time for our kids to be able to go out, have fun and get all the candy they can eat. We often compromise in order to give something to the kids but in a Christ like manner.

Are we accomplishing that? We are giving our kids candy also. It happens to be on Halloween. Are we just copycats???

We spend alot of time warning our kids not to take candy or talk to strangers. We see all the sexual predators on the news. It seems they are everywhere. Then, parents of the world take one night a year and bring their kids to the strangers. Then we emulate the holiday out of pity for our kids missing the fun. Stand or not!. Lets' make a decision!

Our church had a "Trunk and Treat" night. It was an outreach program for the whole community. We believe in replacing something bad with something good.

We had the trunks of twenty cars (inside our ministry center, out of the cold) decorated and filled with 'goodies'.

We also passed out tracts and had a FREE carnival and FREE hot dog meals for the kids and FREE donuts and coffee for the adults.

We received many names that we will follow up on with a home visit. We were packed the whole night!

I had to vote, "Didn't do a thing." We had our very first Fall Festival planned for the Saturday before Halloween and had already bought everything except the hot dogs. Unfortunately, it rained solid for two days before and even that morning so the water was standing everywhere in the yard. We had to cancel because of it. I was so disappointed!

We got the report last night at church about our first annual Trunk and Treat!

150 families that are not members of our church brought their children.

500 children total came by who are unchurched.

    9 people got saved! PTL!

I would say this was a good outreach... :godisgood:

We didn't this year because we just started here a couple of months ago as pastor...so no time to really plan it and organize it enough to see it done with excellence.
We do plan on trying some sort of outreach next year though.
