    This is not exactly Baptist history, but close -- most Baptist hymnals and song books from which I have sung are full of hymns written by Isaac Watts. Isaac Watts, the "Father of English Hymnody," was born on this day, 344 years ago, and preached his first sermon on his 24th birthday, 320 years ago. I have written a bit more about him, here:
