I'm looking for current information on the Independent Bible Baptist Missions, which was organized in Colorado in 1949 by Harvey H. Springer and other independent Baptist pastors (name adopted in 1950).

I didn't find much by searching on the internet. What happened to this organization? Does it still exist? Did it merge with some other group? Was it ever the sole organization or fellowship of any independent Baptists (like BBFI), or was it just a missions agency (like BIMI and BM-M)?

I know that Springer was not only president of IBBM, but also of the World Baptist Fellowship in the early 1950s, so I thought IBBM might have just been phased out. Any help appreciated!

BTW, here is an article on Harvey H. Springer - someone might be interested.

    Brother Robert,
Thanks for that link to Springer. I heard him preach at Jarvis Street Baptist Church in Toronto in 1959. He was dressed in what we called a cowboy suit and high hat (stetson?) and he preached on Jonah. I remember his theatrics, how he grabbed the seat of his trousers and back of coat and thrust himself off the platform and continued preaching from the floor.

I always thought he was a Texan, but I think I equated cowboys with Texas.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I received his paper for years (out of Englewood, colorado, a southern suburb of Denver) and they were always very legalistic/rule oriented, etc.

Have not heard of the mission for years and I'm in the middle of the Mountain West.

I believe that that mission outreach has ceased many years ago. Springer was a part of the World Baptist with J.Frank Norris and perhaps worked through that mission office later on.

However, you might want to contact his old church.

Perhaps they can help you with any info of the history of that mission.
