There was a church on the news that had a prayer meeting at a gas station laying hands on the pumps and praying for the prices to go back down.

I think I'll try this next time I buy a house or a car.

87.36% of all stats are made ON THE FLY.

Besides, I take this scripture LITERAL:

    1 Peter 4:11a (Geneva Bible, 1599 Edition):

    If any man speake,
let him speake as the wordes of God
    .

Lord, Please let the SUV that I so foolishly bought for my wife and I to go three blocks to the corner 7-11 -- please helpt it to get 40MPG. Thank you Sir for covering for me. Amen.

Then I realised how good a witnessing tool the SUV is sitting in my front yard on blocks.

For those like me that must drive 1000+ miles every week, the high gas prices can be a source of frustration but I just don't worry about it.
What am I supposed to do?
If I get up and go to work I make money. If I do not spend $30 or more every day I don't make money.
But with the dollar going down and down more and down more it isn't just gas that will be going up.

But, God is still our provider. Gas used to be way under a dollar and we still lived when it went up to $1.00
    It then went to $2.00
    We still made it.
It went up to 3 and we still didn't starve.
If it goes to $4, (which it was today for premium) life will go on.

I think beans is the key to the solution. If we had more beans who could feed more of the hungry who would then produce more gas and the problem would fix itself...

Sorry, I agree with your idea, but this is simply not true. Been several places and always see SUVs and here in Ireland it seems like every third car is an SUV even though petrol is a little over $7 a gallon and diesel is close to $8.

I think that's why the government doesn't believe prices are too high yet. You still see all these large gas guzzling vehicles on the road along with lead foot drivers.

I agree with this sentiment. It is always good to pray, no doubt about that, and pray about every situation. But to pray about this is to be asking God to do something that He has given us the ability to do something about ourselves.

Its like someone said earlier, skipping one latte a week would provide an extra gallon of petrol. The latte is not the important part, but the principal is clear.

And, by the way, I promise you that when the time comes you will pay $7.00 a gallon for petrol. And I suspect that behaviour will not change much.

I don't think that is right. We don't generally use the name "SUV", (I had to look it up to find out what it meant) but many people drive them. I came across the following at http://www.answers.com/suv&r=67
Outside of North America and India, these vehicles are known simply as "four-wheel-drives", often abbreviated to "4WD" or "4x4".
In countries such as the UK, where the U.S. distinction between cars and "light trucks" is not used, they are classified as cars.

Surely you jest, Brother David. No one on the BB would make a claim without substantiating evidence now would they?

To his defence, normally a scripture is tossed in to imply to disagree with me is to disagree with God.

I guess, I should have been more specific. In France, nobody drives SUV's they ALL drive hatchbacks. My husband is from France and we go there frequently for every 25 hatchbacks, there might be 1 SUV. But I have never been to Ireland so I should not have included all of Europe.

Somebody took a picture of the people who gathered at a local elementry school. The gathering was about a GREEN award for the school efforts. The vehicles (parents) were all lined up: 5 pickup/SUVs/vans, 1 full size sedan, no hatch back, no compact vehicles, no sub-compact, no FORTWO (now for sale in the USofA).

My son broke my compact (KIA RIO, South Korean) on the Interstate Median Barrier (avoiding impact with a moving vehicle). The damage was more than the replacement price, so the insurance company totaled it (and kept the vehicle) and give me some money. I've saving up for an economical vehicle. My wife and I are retired so we really don't need two vehicles. My vehicle (I married it when I married my new wife in 2002 and a fluffy white dog and 7 grandchildren - marring grannies is really a bargain!) is a big red Buick that gets about 18MPG.

Or Britain, or Germany. Plenty of SUVs on those roads. Been in Paris a few times and see a lot of tiny cars, but also a lot MPVs, or mini vans.

Php 4:4-6 (Geneva Bible, 1599 Edition):
Reioyce in the Lord alway, againe I say, reioyce.
5 Let your patient minde be knowen vnto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be nothing carefull, but in all thinges let your requestes be shewed vnto God in praier, and supplication with giuing of thankes.

Thank You Wonderful God for Giving Your Son: Messiah Jesus for our Salvation. Thank You Lord for our blessed Federal Government (of the USofA) that has given us all the WELFARE program: subsidized, artificially-low gasoline prices for the last SIXTY YEARS. Help us each realize that we still need to be rejoicing and accompanying our supplications with MUCH GIVING OF THANKS. Help us realize that crabbing is neither a Christian nor an American VALUE. May Jesus be praised MOST in all thanksgiving that I might do. Amen.
