Then would you say Christ was possessed when he was being tried in the desert ? I sure wouldn't.

Oppression is not possession. Makes perfect sense.

What would bring you to this ridiculous conclusion?

I didn't. I made a comparison. No I don't think Jesus was possessed. Of course not. Nor do I think Saul was.

For those who believe that demon possession is a perfectly normal thing nowadays, do you believe that they can possess inanimate objects? There used to be this preacher who would think that demons were getting into the PA system. Any time there was uncontrollable feedback or if it cut out or whatever, he'd stop the sermon and make everybody pray for a hedge of protection around the PA system so the demons couldn't get in. Really weird to the point of being delusional in my opinion.

Very weird. Probably should have just had it fixed. Unlike humans, electricity follows a set of rules it cannot break.

Jesus was the Son of God; deity. He was God, is God, always will be God. He never ceased from being God. God cannot sin.
When he was tempted in the wilderness he rebuked Satan. At no time did he give into Satan. His earthly testimony was: I ALWAYS do the will of my Father.

OTOH, Saul's life was a life of rebellion. He rebelled against God's authority. He was chosen to be king out of the flesh, carnality--because he was head and shoulders above every man, not for any spiritual reason.
He continually sought to kill David, a man after God's own heart.
He sought out a "medium" one who consulted with spirits, involved in the occult to see if he could talk to Saul who had already died. It was God that over-ruled in that event.
He disobeyed in one his final acts of king, in that he failed to kill the king and destroy the spoil.
Samuel said to him:
1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
--His sin was as the sin of witchcraft. That is an interesting indictment.
God had now rejected him completely. The throne had been taken away from him.

There is no spiritual fruit in Saul's life, only a life of rebellion and sin.
No, I don't believe Saul was saved.

Furthermore, through his rebellion he allowed himself to become demonized.
It was David, a man after God's own heart, that was able to make the demon go away when he played his harp in front of him.
--A true believer does not allow such things happen to him. What Saul allowed is the mark of possession, not oppression.

1 Samuel 16:14 But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
15 And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.

1 Samuel 16:23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
--"And the evil spirit departed from him."

Going a bit too far, don't you think?
OTOH, I know many that absolutely believe that we are in a spiritual warfare as the Bible teaches. The devil will do everything in his power to keep people from being saved and believers from getting saved. Thus when a sermon is preached or especially when the invitation is given, it is not uncommon during that time to have interruptions: children starting to squirm and make more noise than usual, some crying, the speaker system giving some trouble, a person or two getting up and leaving, an unusual amount of people start coughing, etc. It seems like the devil will do anything to get people focused away from what ought to be the most important part of the sermon--how it applies to your heart; what you should do about it.

There are people right here on BB that think UFO's are demonic manifestations, that is, UFO's are demons appearing as lights or objects in the sky. So never mind inanimate objects, many here believe demons can BECOME moving objects.

All this was to me, eh ?

Saul might not have been saved, bet he was not possessed, although you have tried, several times. He was troubled. He didn't cut himself with rocks and utter blasphemies. He didn't break any chains. He never spoke with another voice. He functioned quite well in society.

I think, being created beings, they can only be in one place at a time, therefore HAVE to travel. Not sure how.

So when an output transistor shorts out due to a combination of being overdriven and shoddy wiring, that's satan ?

Here's where we're gonna have to stop, DHK. We're not going to convince each other. I did like the discussion. Most of it.

Demonic activity is at its peak today. Just look at movies, television, and music--you'll see more references to the occult. Yes, I have seen a demon-possessed girl. She could not be controlled by four males. This happened in the late eighties.

Oppression?

When you see foaming in the mouth, glaring eyes, speaking in a different voice, super-human strength--that is possession.

Sure they can move about. I've always thought they can instantly transport anywhere. But take the shapes of space vehicles, appear on radar, be seen by pilots, ummm... No.

I think about half the people on the Paul Finebaum Show are demon possessed.

When I was in the WoF movement, I went about rebuking and binding demons like I was the long lost eighth son of Sceva. But, in reality, pretty much everything I was taught about demons ad the believer's authority over demons during that time was complete hogwash.

Now, though, I wouldn't talk to a demon. I'd talk to the person and present the Gospel to them.

No? During UFO sightings, it is a common occurrence that witnesses note the smell of "burning sulfur." Isn't burning sulfur associated with...
