So you mean you stick out in a crowd, even a crowd of veiled women.
huhh, interesting.
</font>
I guess I do. I wear a different color than the prevailing color around here.
</font>
So you want to be different. I can think of better ways to be more like Jesus and bring glory and honor to Him. If you want to stand out in a crowd then why not wear a bright orange dress especially one that glows in the dark. I grew up with a mom that thought by being strange was doing God a favor. But the fact was that she detracted from the message God wanted her to deliver. Eventually she got a divorce instead. People have questioned her mental stability.

The question is not so much what shall we wear but who's living for Jesus Christ because of our life? When that happens the legalism ceases.

We certainly don't want you to waste your time. I have not responded because I have a life, husband, family and witnessing that requires more of my time than the BB.

Dina, I have never seen you. You asked, if I was out to be noticed. The types of people that I have described are the ones you typically see. Are these people Christians? I wouldn't know. I know when I was a teenager and in to things I shouldn't be we all wore crosses. Did that mean I or my friends were Christian, probably not.

Every where you go, there are God bless America signs, even at the liquors stores. Not to mention an Happy Birthday, Jesus! at the local tavern. Does this mean they are Christians?

The point I am making is you can't pick out a Christian in today's society, they blend with the rest of the crowd.

As I have stated, the people on BB are not the lost they are saved. I expect my children to behave appropriately and I think God does, too! Therefore God's children should have no problem with His words or His ways!

</font>
No where did I say that I wanted to be strange. I follow 1 Corinthians 11:1-16. The reason I would never wear a bright orange dress as you suggested is that it is not modest, nor is it discreet.

I am sorry about your mother's divorce. My husband and I are happily married, thank you.

I am having trouble explaining what I mean. I know that Jesus knows what I do. That is all that matters.

I don't have to prove it to you or anyone else. When this thread first started I wanted to only discuss with those who were truly interested in this issue.

I usually don't read posts from certain people. I made the mistake of reading their posts this time. I will continue to go back to not reading certain people's posts.

John 13
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Luke 6
43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

We are to be in the world, not OF the world!

The remark that "you should just wear a glow in the dark dress" is ridiculous! We should all want to stand out as a Christian, as far as I know the Bible STILL teaches that the world should hate you because it hated Christ. Our uniqueness should draw the lost to us to seek that which they do not have. Christ! Who would be drawn to us if we lived/dressed/acted the same as they do? Darkness wants the Light. True, we have the light inside, but it must shine through to be seen by the Lost. In our words and our Lifestyle. Anyone who does not want to acknowledge this as true are hiding thier face from the truth.
In Christ,
Peggy

Exactly and yes we are to love one another, Amen! Today while grocery shopping two women who work there who speak a foreign language pointed and laughed at myself and my daughters, they were laughing so loud they were almost cackling.

These two women are professing Christians. I know they profess Jesus Christ because I gave them tracts a while back and they told me that they already are Christians.

They laugh and mock at my dour, plain clothes all the while professing to know Jesus Christ.

You are right on there! Thanks for sharing this Scripture, it is very appropriate. We shall know them by their fruits and we are known by our fruits, AMEN!

May I suggest we just agree to disagree?

If you're convicted to wear simple style clothing and head coverings then it is not our place to tell you to do otherwise. Who are we to quench the Spirit. However, it's not your place to attempt to 'guilt' us into something that has not been placed on our hearts by that same Holy Spirit.

We go round and round. Certain women NEVER post here until the word headcovering or a subject on pants or dresses appears. When the topics die down, they disappear until the next time.

There is so much more to serving our Lord than whether or not we have long hair or head coverings. This is such a waste of time and a horrible example to new Christians.

"I for one haven't felt there's been a "guilt" trip applied...and I know for a fact there are those out there who are truly interested in these type of topics rather than some found on the BB."

Granny, respectfully, do not take a couple of my words out of context to make me sound ugly. My remarks first said that WE are not to condemn or judge the sisters who do cover. The way you 'quoted' me makes it sound like I was very one sided in my request.

Then let them ask their husbands at home! Is he not the spiritual leader?

There are a FEW women on this board who cover and there are MANY women who have written the administrators and moderators to complain of the mistreatment of Dina. I had hoped the ugliness would stop on BOTH sides. :(

I don't think "should" is correct. "May" is more likely.
What do you do with this scripture?
John 7:7 (KJV1769), words of Jesus:

The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth,
because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

Yes, Diane I agree to disagree with you on this issue. However, there are other people who read and post here who are interested in discussing this. Just as there is freedom in other threads to discuss coloring hair and painting nails the same freedom should be allowed to those who want to talk about headcoverings.

The whole time I have been here the headcoverings threads get shut down very quickly. There are usually two or three people who are vehemently against headcovering and they try to get it shut down right away.

Take this one for example. One of the first people who replied asked why this topic should be allowed two weeks in a row. Anything to get this topic off, locked up and put away.

It is also false to say that certain women NEVER post except for headcovering discussions. I am sure you have access to all of my prior posts, many of which have nothing to do with headcovering.

If it wastes your time and is such a horrible witness to new Christians than maybe we can be the ones accountable for that. I am sure the same Holy Spirit that tells you to wear jeans, short hair and makeup will let us know when we are no longer of use to Him.

Matthew 15:10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, "Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man." 12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?" 13 But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch." 15 Then Peter answered and said to Him, "Explain this parable to us." 16 So Jesus said, "Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

As of that posting, out of your last 50 posts, which are viewable by anyone who clicks on your profile, 2 were not on headcoverings. One was posted AFTER I made my remark about the women who only come here to post when headcovering is broached.

I just wanted to clarify that and vindicate my remark.

This is ridiculous, gals!! Fussing and trying to "one-up" each other with more insults is just stupid! Maybe a thread like this one where mostly pro-headcovering people respond could be placed in the fundamental forum. I avoid that forum b/c there are often disagreements there, but not as BAD as this one!! Let's move on and stop being so UGLY to each other. Both sides are guilty!!! And this bickering back and forth is not glorifying to God - I feel sure of that. Neither side will win the debate and really, it doesnt matter. Because in the end when we finally know all things, it wont matter anymore.
Like I tell my youth at church who fuss alot -
GIRLS- LET's LOVE!!! Now can we hug and go on? If there is a poster with whom you cannot agree, at least bicker in private. There's nothing wrong with discussing opposing sides to an issue, but this has gotten out of hand!!
Love to all!! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
