    Hello,
There was a new lady named Patricia who wanted to discuss headcoverings. I am starting this topic as a place to discuss this. This is not meant to be a debate but a discussion of the merits found in this practice. I know that there have been a few ladies who want to discuss this openly and I am so thankful for the freedom afforded by the Lord to discuss His Word.

    Chrysoprasus,
I am so happy that you are standing up boldy against abortion. I have had some trouble getting into your site. Could you post the link again.
Also, I was wondering if you are making any headway in the prayer that you have requested. I am and will continue praying for you.
It is a good suggestion you make. I had my own headcovering group for over a year with over seventy members at one point. The Lord told me to close it, so now I am at other sites. Like this one, sorry, I hate to bother you.

You have said your covering is in your eyes. While I recognize that this was a joke if you or any other lady would like I can make you one for free. And if you don't like mine I know another lady who makes and mails them out for free as well.
Oh, I see that Maggie has started one in general Discussions. It seems that she has made a greater presentation than I. I do also thank the moderators for editing my subject headline and for allowing me the freedom the post. That is a blessing I do not take for granted.

[IMG] I will make one plain white one for free too, if anyone wants one, just email or PM me. I've had a few women ask me for one, and I have happily obliged. HCL, thanks for calling my presentation "grand". That one made me blush [IMG] It was nice of you to say so.

It is good for people to be able to discuss God's Word openly. I have taken that for granted in the past, and you have reminded me of it's value.

HCL, you make them? That would be awesome! I've been considering the issue for a while, and was thinking about trying it. I did attend a church when I was younger where we all wore them during services, but I haven't found one around here that truly uses a covering...the ones we had were like shawls sorta, most people around here just use little hat like things.
But now what would you think of someone wearing one with a pair of jeans? [IMG]

Your site looks great. Will look more later. About the veil, I am afraid mine is similar to Maggie's. But, if you still want me to make you one, I will be delighted to. Please send me a pm and we can talk more.

HCL~is there a reason why it should be made with white material? Just curious, as I would rather wear something darker. Also, are snoods wrong? I had worn my hair pulled-up haphazardly, but have lately been letting it down, but I still pull it back at my neck.

Don't laugh, ok; I had read once from a Baptist preacher that the angels might be tempted with our necks showing. Have you ever heard this?

A question about ladies hair, I believe the Bible says it is a blessing to be long. I know a lady who has beautiful long hair but she will always put it up in "bun" type of deal when it is time for church. She has even came to choir practice before church with it down but when church starts
she will tie it up. Anybody guess why she does this?

    Granny,
I personally wear black. But, I have a good friend who wears navy. Some say white is for purity, others say black for our sinfulness. For me I wear black because it is the only veil my husband approves us.

Snoods I think are good. My thought is just cover.

Jessie, that's a fascinating link and thank you. As I was considering Murphy's question and that link, some other thoughts were going through my mind.

When we see pictures of ads for perfumes or loungerie or such, we see women with long flowing hair a lot of the time, and often 'windblown'. The obvious appeal is to a concept of unrestrained freedom, often associated with promiscuity -- or, in some cases, the innocence of a child. Interesting that long and loose hair should be able to be symbols of both!

Please understand I am NOT dissing long hair! Mine was long for a very long time and I loved it. I was simply thinking about how it has been used by ads. And that started me thinking about the old custom of married women wearing their hair up, while before marriage it may have been down. Change from girl to woman...

Reading the link Jessie provided also brought home to me the fact that long and loose hair has ALWAYS been associated with freedom, either of childhood or of morals. So it very well might have been that Paul was referring to keeping our hair as modest as our clothes, whether hidden in a head-covering or up on the head.

I haven't had time to think about this and check with the Bible more, but it is interesting! Thank you again, Jessie.

    To Granny,
You have a blessed day too!

    Pastor Murphy,
Is is because she believe the hair is covering and she is hiding her glory?

I have a question, sort of. Perhaps it is more thinking out loud.
I've been looking into this subject for a few months now. And I wonder if the covering is full covering for the head, bangs to the neck? Or just past the ears covering the crown of the head? Or covering all of the hair? Or just the top of the head?
When I cover in prayer it is total coverage to the shoulders.
    Just some thoughts?

    Hi Rosa,
It seems that we ought to cover the head. I would pray and ask God what He wants you to wear. There are so many different styles of covering available from different cottage industries. Or you can design and make one that fits you best. Ask your husband what he would like to see you in? You might be surprised.

The headcoverings used in bible times were just large pieces of fabic(I would think either square, or rectangle shape for it to hang right on their heard, but you could use round I guess if you wanted too), that were just thrown over the head. No clips, no different style, no patterns needed, even n o sewing needed.
