I'm listening to The Heart of Worship. It just really opened my eyes! Like the song says, it's all about you Jesus. It makes all my little complaints about life seem silly. Maybe we should all listen to this song just to remind us of how much we are loved.

A good reminder Chipsgirl... but I've found as a worship leader that the lyrics of this song work better as a personal worship song rather than a corporate worship song. It focuses on what I've done: I simply come, what I bring, I'm coming back, I'm sorry, etc. A good sentiment, but I've discovered that we need to focus more on Him in worship than ourselves.

Just a thought... I like the song and sing it myself sometimes to repent of the fact that I've made worship about me too often.

As a side note, Joshua, I think one of hte weaknesses of modern Christian music is its sometimes incessant focus on "I" or "me," rather than "us" or "we," or better yet "You" (God).

I do like heart of Worship, but I agree Joshua, I sing it as a personal prayer and commitment, but I enjoy corporate worship that points to God and his Word.

Speaking of Which, have you heard "Voice of Truth" I think is the name of the song, by Casting Crowns, that is one CCM group that has great God-centered lyrics.

    Corporate Praise is 'Special'...

David was glad when invited to go into the House of The Lord...

Only in Corporate Worship is the "I" turned into a "we"... As the individual "I"s submit themselves through Worship to the Spirit of Jesus...

I don't fully understand the psychology of it...

But, it is the "I" songs that get me past mere preliminaries and 'upbeat Praise' and usher me into Worship...

The really strange part is is that even though I am in an "I" Worship mode my sense of Corporate Unity in Worship is higher than at any other time of Worship...

Kind of as hard to explain as the 'Trinity'...

All unique Worshipping Individuals... Yet, a Coherent Unity of Worship...

I *do* agree with Joshua though that the expression of 'apology' and 'repentance' should be done at the onset or altar call...

Because the deeply introspective "I" songs can distract from the Corporate Sense...

    Though it's not a 'given'...

And, I've seen some pretty strong moves of God in those times...
