why not keep it simple... Happy Fathers Day.

In this day of complexities, simplicity is making a comeback.

    I agree with Tim. :)

I think making cutesy messages on church signs really ridicules the Gospel. Slogans are fine for a soft drink but for the church, I think straightforward truth is best.

    "Thank God for Godly Dads!"

    (that's my two cents)

maybe this is a really good time to do away with your church sign...

maybe just replace it with, if you need help, prayer, or hope come inside...

Of all the church signs I've seen there have only been a handful that have actually been helpful and would make me want to attend that church.

I look at the church sign as yet another way of communicating with the community. I'm not a pastor (yet), but I've been changing the church sign for the last two years at my current church. And I can say that it can be beneficial to have. It's certainly not a necessity in the life of the church, but announcing a free event on the sign (especially if you put the word "FREE" on the sign) will pull in quite a few passers by. And although many people will tune out the sign as they drive by it daily, many others will read the sign every time they pass by. So that in itself, I think, is a reason to continue updating it. I would never knowingly cut off communication with the community.

That being said, our building is on a busy street, with cars zooming by constantly. So I could certainly see how it would be less important in other contexts.

Now to your question. "Happy Dad's Day" or "Come Home to Your Heavenly Father" would be appropriate.

Okay, you're just now putting up the sign? Sorry, but it is going to come down on Monday when it's out of date. I know i'm not much help.

We just use our sign for service times and maybe to let people know of a service. I am afraid of appearing here

Sorry this turned into a discussion. I just wanted a nice message. Here's what I came up with and it's not cutesy at all:
"When ordinary men pray, extraordinary things happen."
Feel free to use. I'm keeping it up all week and maybe longer.

Happy Father's Day would have been fine.
