Hellow all, I found this site looking for a place to fellowship with baptists. Let me tell yall a little about myself.
I was born again in march of 2005. The chuch that led me to the Lord was a Narerine church, a church that wasn't centered in the Bible, infact it had a Woman Pastores (I didn't know at the time that the Bible forbids women to be pastors.)
I backslif almost imidiatly after I was saved because I didn't have a Biblical foundation. The woman who did the preaching (atcually it was teaching, she really didn't preach.) When she did read from the Bible, she read from the NIV and several other Bibles. I also had an NIV, but never read it much because it was like a text book, and I wasn't much into reading text books,
Before I got Saved I was really into heavy metal. And the Bands I listend to were some of the most God Hating God blasphaming bands on earth. I listend to Black Metal, some death Metal, Thrash, and English styl heavy metals, and I listend to bands like Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Obituary, Slayer, Morbid Angel and Lamb of God. When I first got saved I continued to listen to these bands. My excuse for listening to the Black Metal was that It has roots to Norway and viking which I have traced my family name back to.
When I got saved, inicially I didn't see any harm in listining to these bands, I told myself that I just listened to the music and ignored the Lyrics (funny how we try to excuse sin).
Well later that summer of 2005 I moved accross from an old Texan, who was a King James Bible believeing indapendent Baptist who graduated from Bob Jones (I didn't know that at the time, but God did.). Shortly after I met him, he sarted doing a bible study. The first day we did a bible study, he showed me some errors in the NIV, he showed me 1 John 5:7, Isaiah 14:12, and 2 Sam 21, were it talks about Elhanen Killing the Brother of galiath, the NIV takes out brother and it says that Elhanen killed Goliath, well I knew that was outright wrong.
Well thanks to the Lord I am now a Saved King James Bible believeng Indapendednt Baptist. I believe without any dout, that God has preserved his Word perfectly in the KJV, I don't believe that it needs updating or revised, it needs to be reread. I had no hope of salvation, nor did I have any doctrines down while I was under the New Versions. Since I have turned to the Av, I have grown leeps and bounds, thanks the the Lord.
One of the first thing that I really liked about baptist was the eternal Salvation. I was at a mens retreat when a fellow church brother was talking about how he knew some one who believed that when someone asked the Lord Jesus into there heart, they were saved not matter what. Well I knew that if I couldn't save myself, then there was absolutly no hope of me keeping it.
I do not listen to any kind of Metal anymore, I stoped drinking and I do not smoke Dope, Thank the Lord.
Well I know I wrote a book so Im going to end this for now.
    Thanks
    Josh Lawn.

I'm an NIV reader but would give the KJV a try if I had one. I enjoyed reading your testimony. Certainly reading the KJV and being Baptist has worked well for you, different people find God in different ways. Welcome :wavey:
