Hey, remember that one time when arminians didn't build a strawman?

    - huh, neither do I.

    Seriously, could we have a one-on-one debate over a specific issue?

    Perhaps, the calvinists could agree on who and then the non-sovereigntists could agree on their person. Then, the debate could start with each side already knowing the issue and ready to debate. What do you say Mods?

    Would the rest of us email suggestions to our respective champion?

    Also, since it is apparent that the non-Calvinist side has been taking it on the chin this weekend perhaps we on the doctrines of God's amazing grace side should start debating with half our brains tied behind our backs just to make it fair. [IMG]

    You're making the incorrect assumption that I've got half a brain. ;)

    I think it would be interesting, if it could be pulled off.

    Ken, I suppose. I think several going at the same time could be great. That way, each side can present what they actually believe and not what they want to think the other side actually believes.

    Posts should be limited to a certain number of words I think. I also think the following format would be good.

    A presents side
    C rebuttals
    C presents side
    A rebuttals
    A closing comments and admission of defeat
    C closing comments and awarded the superior argument award

    My idea still stands. My post was an attempt at lighthearted humor.

    Btw, does that mean you are on?

    See the evidence presented even supports the ignorance charge, even my five year old knows her ABC's, :D I have seen some churches who claim to be Sovereign Grace use these:

    A= Admit
    B= Believe
    C= Confess

    Never mind there is no Bible in this.

    Oh, if you are looking to preach, don't preach Sovereign Grace in those churches who have just spent a week drilling this system into the minds of youngsters. The Safari taught nothing but HOORAH!!

    God needs no cliches, nor 'buzz' words to regenerate his elect.

    I think the idea is grand PTW. I also think it should be specified however that the other side should use Scripture, at least on occasion.

    God Bless.

    Dispite my fear that a nomination coming from me could actually undermine this person, I've got a nomination for the Calvinistic "champion":

    Russell55

    IMO, she is far more knowledgable of scripture, objective in dealings with others, clear with her arguments, and respectable than any other Calvinist on this board.

    Dallas, would be my second choice, he is also respectable in his dealings with others.

    Excuse me... But I'm one of the moderators here... And what are we going to do have a debate between Russell 55 and Frogman :confused: ... What kind of debate would that be aren't they both Calvinist?

    I thought we had to have one from either side?... Another thing is I have never run a debate before but maybe Pastor Larry has and would be up to it. I think before we even entertain the idea Clint should be contacted having conducted Post Its debate with an Atheist on the existance of God. Maybe if there is a deffinate interest we can turn this into a strict debate forum. Then maybe we would all learn something.

    A debate has ground rules that must be observed and you must debate doctrine only and the moderator that controls the debate will make sure these rules are observed... That is the way I see it... Anyone have anything to add?... Brother Glen The Primitive Baptist and C/A Forum Co- Moderator [IMG]

    Ken, you're a universalist which really typically doesn't fit within the Calvinistic Soteriological system. Plus, to be perfectly frank you have a tendency to drag the debate down by resorting to MUMBO JUMBO instead of addressing the issues.

    IMO, if you were debating I believe Calvinism would be misrepresented, therefore you would probably be the last person on my list to represent Calvinism.

    However, if we are wanting to see a debate against Calvinistic Universalism you would be my first nomination [IMG]

    I thought Brother Bill and Brother Dallas have been squaring off since they got here :D ... Now after these two agree and the debate is set... What juicy topic will be chosen for them to debate?... Should we have them pick a topic?... Have the moderator pick a topic?... Or have the brethren known on this forum submit topics and then vote on the best one?... At least we can do this in unity [IMG] ... Brother Glen The Primitive Baptist

    Have you not noticed that I have pushed Universalism to the side lately? Since it is a hope rather than a doctrine, I will cherish my hope and not use it in debate. I can simply maintain the traditional Calvinist position that all those for whom Christ died will be saved and leave it at that.

    Also, I have dogs to train and I couldn't do justice to a formal debate. That's why I have to resort to MUMBO JUMBO - lack of time. [IMG]

    We know there is a Calvinist moderator, is there a Armenian moderator to balance that equation?
