Obama Used Party Rules to Foil Clinton

Washington (AP) - Unlike Hillary Rodham Clinton, rival Barack Obama planned for the long haul.

Clinton hinged her whole campaign on an early knockout blow on Super Tuesday, while Obama's staff researched congressional districts in states with primaries that were months away. What they found were opportunities to win delegates, even in states they would eventually lose.

Obama's campaign mastered some of the most arcane rules in politics, and then used them to foil a front-runner who seemed to have every advantage -- money, fame and a husband who had essentially run the Democratic Party for eight years as president.

I think it comes down to arrogance and self-entitlement on the Clinton's part.

They just "knew" that it was their destiny and right to return to the White House and they took Obama for granted. And even in the face of defeat they still cant accept it and step down gracefully.

I am loving it, I hope her and Obama finish destroying each others credibility before the general election campaign gets into full swing.

And yes, I have to agree that Obama was smart enough to take advantage of the Clintons negligence.

Have you noticed how Bill's ability to give crowd pleasing powerful speeches (which he was known for during his presidentcy) has deteriorated, and now his rhetoric is full of anger? And at the same time Obama is mesmorizing the country with his flowing words of "change"? The Clintons never expected someone like Obama to come along and actually be slicker than Slick Willy.

In other words, you think the Democrats will win in Nov. with Obama.

I dont want him to win, but since the republicans dont have a strong candidate, it looks like Obama will probably win. He is certainly "slick" enough.

The political pundits were predicting Clinton would be the next President for several years and much of the news media liked that idea a lot and pushed it along at every opportunity. I think Clinton believed she would be the undisputed winner even before she started her campaign. Her ego was inflated even above her previous arrogance. I suppose the table could still turn - strange things happen in the wee hours of politics - but I think she's going to have to accept a hard fall and be content stirring up trouble in the Senate for the citizens of New York who seem to like her liberal thinking. Meanwhile we'll have to deal with another arrogant product of today's flash and fancy. I'm not sure which is worse but I confess that seeing Clinton - both her and her husband - cut down a notch gives a certain kind of satisfaction.
