I just finished reading A Visual History of the English Bible © 2008 by Donald L. Brake : published by Baker Books.

I enjoyed it. Has any one else read it or is familiar with it? If so what are your thoughts about it?

Do you think he favors on the use of the CT? Or does he try to be nuetral?

I confess to having not read it- mainly because of poor reviews on Amazon.

I have a copy of Donald Brake's book and have read it. It is well-written and informative.

I've seen it at Barnes and Noble.
    It looks interesting.
I'll get it when it's in the half price book stack.

What did you like/dislike about it?

I have it - I got it with gift bucks at Christmas, BUT I'm rereading Glassman's book about translations and Metzger's book about Bible history - so it's still on my wait shelf ;)

It was a Christmas gift from my father. I liked it b/c it helped explain to me some of the things y'all talk about on this board. I'm just a layman in the pew and have no simanary education. Alot of the history I already knew but there is a chapter (12 or 13 don't recall) on the under lying greek text, that section helped me cause I wasn't real informed about the issues. Of course i realize it is a very simplified introduction to textual critism and not intended to be scholarly.
