What, if anything, is your church doing to honor graduates from high school or college.

Do you all have a baccalaureate service to honor the grads? Gifts? Recognition and prayer?

    Thanks. [IMG]

The pastor calls them all up front and they take turns telling their names, which school they are graduating from, where they are going to college(or to work if they are graduating collage), and what they are going to major in. They recieve a small gift from the church(this year it was new bibles), and we have a dinner after worship service.

That's more or less what we do.

Since I'm new at this church I'm not sure. At my last all were homeschooled and whenever there was a ceremony, meal, etc., whole church invited.

Only two kids from our church are graduating, and neither are members. One is my cousin. They were announced during prayer requests and we pray that they will follow the path the God sets before them.

Other than that, the whole church is invited to their parties, so they will probably see gifts from people then.

We had a graduation banquet for the seniors and families, put on by the youth group. Had about 60 for an Italian buffet. Then a "roast" of each senior (gag gifts, fun time by youth).

As part of the A.M. Service today we had the teens select favorite P/W song. Pretty eclectic blend of music to go around communion, preaching, offering. They were all called up front, given a book and each parent read a verse for their child. Had 6 h.s. and 2 college grads.

Tonight we will have a Baccalaureate Service. Hymns, testimony of grads and parents, message and then we have a reception in the basement and open house for all grads. Each grad's family decorates a SS room with pix, etc and they all pitch together to have cake, punch et al.

Beats running all afternoon and evening to open houses . . and next year we have just two h.s. graduates and 1 college, so it will be easier yet.
