HOUSE APPROVES “ANTI-HATE” BILL

    By Rev. Ted Pike

In a surprising move, the House of Representatives on September 14, 2005 approved “The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2005,” HR2662, as an amendment to the Children’s Safety Act, HR3132. It was approved 223-199.

The Senate is expected to also approve a similar amendment within a month.

This federal legislation, orchestrated by the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith will lead to creation of a vast anti-hate bureaucracy in America, similar to what now exists in Canada. In Canada it is a “hate crime” to publicly criticize such federally protected groups as homosexuals and Jews. In Canada free speech talk radio no longer exists. It is even illegal now in some areas to evangelize or “proselytize” in public.

HR2662, S1145, while ostensibly punishing only violent hate crimes, nevertheless creates an anti-hate bureaucracy through several means:

It breaks down all barriers between federal and states’ rights in law enforcement. It allows federal “thought police” to meddle, upon the flimsiest of pretexts, in states’ enforcement of civil rights laws.

It requires all states to pass and enforce ADL-style anti-hate laws.

It enforces nationwide the working ADL definition of “hate” as being “bias” against federally protected groups, such as homosexuals. Such automatically makes the Bible into “hate literature” and preaching from it into “hate speech.” Result: Bible-believing Christians become potential hate criminals.
The nation was aghast last October 10th when the ADL’s national executive board member, Lynne Abraham, D.A. of Philadelphia, arrested 11 Christians as hate criminals. Her charge: Their preaching was “biased” against homosexuals. They were “hate criminals” because they used an “instrument of crime” (a megaphone) to express “hate speech,” (Bible verses) against homosexuals.

If this “big brother legislation” becomes law, the ADL and federal government will, through enabling legislation and judicial precedents, be exponentially empowered to indict Christians. Pastors, talk show hosts, publishers, critics of Israel, etc. will be liable to arrest just like the Philadelphia Eleven.

    IMO

Hate Crimes legislation is a redundancy and a waste of time.

Crimes against persons have been and should remain the domain of state law. The federal law has no business in this area. The only exception is with respect to crimes against persons committed under federal jurisdiction - such as with the UCMJ applying to the military - or against federal officials - such as assassination. In general, crimes such as murder, rape, robbery, assault, etc. are matters for the state to legislate, enforce, and judge. The use of "civil rights" is merely an excuse by which this misuse of power has been perpetrated upon the American people. This is one more step in the nationalization of all legislation, enforcement, and judgment. If not stopped, we will live to regret this very much.

Prosecute the crime (the action), not the motive. This is stupid liberalism in action once again.

I was listening to to this Rev. Ted Pike on the radio this afternoon. According to him this same bill has been defeated 4 times before and each time it came up it was the same bill with a different name.

I've never heard of this Rev before today so all I know about him is from his website and what he said on the radio. I do agree with you Dragoon and I see alot of this federal expansion lately. Homeland security is going to federalize everything I'm afraid right down to the county sherif and local police.

If it is what you say it is, I am against it.

Don't forget that nothing passes the House without the support of the Republican leadership.

I see where you're going, but if a person is being criminally deprived of federal protections, then I don't have a problem with that person being federally tried as well as state tried. Yeah, I know there's potential for abuse, but I think the bathwater should be addressed while keeping the baby intact.

Like I said: nothing goes through the House of Representatives without the blessing of the GOP Leadership.

    No, I don't.

The ultimate aim of the bill is to destroy Christianity.

I don't believe the ADL is doing this to destroy Christianity. They are doing this because they never want to see the kind of hate that was directed toward them during the Shoah. This is the wrong way to go about it, but that is typically what you get when you get the liberal solution.

    (1) While I have never known Jews to prejudiced for Christianity, I have NEVER considered all Jewish people based upon the actions of a few.

    (2) While I do not think the bill is necessary, I am unable to find what would allow someone to prevent me from preaching the Truth.
