House challenges Bush on surveillance

    If Telecommunications companies are asked by the governernment to do something for "national security" that the government assures them is legal I don't thinki they should be held responsible. The government should be held responsible for violating our civil liberties.

    Not all the telecommunication companies complied with the Bush administration's request. They were free to decline, if they so desired.
