How can Friday be the preparation day?

In the early church, they followed a pattern of days marking events that led up to Jesus' Resurrection. The days were not necessarily chronological.

Thursday was the day that commemorated the Last Supper.

Friday was the commemoration of the Crucifixion and Death of Christ.

Saturday was the day to commemorate the time He was in the tomb.

All leading up to Sunday, the Day of Resurrection.

Your looking at His arising at about 5:59PM our time, just as Monday is on the horizon. The Sun is setting in your scenario. It is the ending of the first day of the week.
