Looking at the results of this poll so far, it seems most Baptists are conservative (with the notable exception of Jimmy Carter! )

Why is that? Are Baptists more conservative by nature, or is it simply that the Bible itself is more conservative?

I am democratic socialist, but had to vote other since the list added marxism to socialist.

A political viewpoint does not alter what one may believe theologically. I don't like many of the labels, cos they just don't fit.

One can be a political liberal, theological conservative with a liberal application and remain true to the Bible's truth.

We tend to be too quick with the "paint" brush and label people. Labels in the different countries also have different ideologies. Blair is no way the Labour Party I grew up with!

    Cheers,

    Jim

Excellent post! I am also a democratic socialist. for those of you who wanted to know who voted socialist/marxist- I did, although only because socialism was mistakenly lumped with marxist. I am NOT a marxist. I am also not ashamed of my politcal ideology. I had completely forgotten about this thread until now.

Nice to know one may believe in Nazi aims politically, and orthodox aims theologically.
